A Message from the Principal

Hello EECV Families!

Great things are coming up at Elyria Early Childhood Village as we finish out the school year! Our 7th annual Art Show is scheduled for this Thursday, April 23rd from 6:00-7:00 PM. Through the creation of the work, our students learn and utilize many skills such as planning, creativity, ingenuity, problem solving, collaboration and fine motor skills. All of the art is unique and beautiful. The process of the work has been awe-inspiring and the products are pretty great too! I hope that you can join us that evening.

A few important reminders:

  • Art Show: Thursday, April 23rd from 6:00-7:00 PM.
  • Spring Break: Spring Break begins on April 3rd.
  • Outdoor Play: As the weather warms up, we’ll be spending more time outside. Please ensure your child is dressed for each day's weather with appropriate footwear.

It is hard to believe that we have less than 2 months of school left this year. Time sure does fly when you are having fun and we love that our students are learning so much in a fun, play-based atmosphere. Thank you for choosing EECV for your child's preschool experience! We are so happy to see their growth and development each day!

To end our school year, kindergarten parents will be invited to a celebratory ice cream party on Tuesday, May 26th, to honor the growth and development your child and the students in your child's class have made this year. ***Please note this is NOT the last day of school. The last day of school will be a typical school day.

A flyer will be sent home in early May with more details. So please check your child's take home folder for the information.

Here are a few of the details to help with your planning.

EECV Kindergarten Celebration - Tuesday, May 26th from 2:15-3:00 PM

  • Each student is invited to have up to 2 guests total (parents or guardians) and we ask that no siblings attend. There will be limited space available and we will be celebrating all 5 kindergarten classrooms together, so each student is limited to 2 adult guests.
  • Students and their parents/guardians will mingle on the playground and in our gym with other families and our kindergarten staff.
  • Photo spots will be set up to snap pictures with teachers and friends.
  • A treat will be served to students and their invited guests.

Registration for students returning to Preschool is happening now. Please review the information below to be prepared for next school year. Thank you!

All currently enrolled Preschoolers at EECV have received a 2026-2027 School Year Intent Form through an email to their parent(s). This form will allow you to inform us on your plans for 2026-2027.

Students planning to remain in Preschool at EECV must re-register for next school year. Spaces will fill up quickly so once you receive the information, please do not delay. Registration paperwork will be sent home with your child based on your response to the 2026-2027 School Year Intent Form. Please return forms as quickly as possible to secure your child's preschool spot. You may also receive a call from school secretary, Mrs. Bruening, if we have any questions about the program placement for your child. Feel free to call the office at any time to discuss your 26-27 school year plans for your preschooler.

If your student is transitioning from Preschool to Kindergarten you will receive information regarding this transition and any steps you may need to take.

Students transitioning from Preschool to Kindergarten DO NOT need to complete new kindergarten registration. If your child is enrolled in Preschool at EECV, they are an enrolled student with the district and do not need to complete Kindergarten registration. If you have any questions on this please call the office and speak to Mrs. Bruening.

Registration for NEW students (not currently enrolled at EECV) will begin by the end of March. We look forward to continuing to serve your child next school year!

From our school handbook:

We love to celebrate and recognize special occasions in our students’ lives. Sending in treats or items from home is not required or necessary; however, if you would like to send something in to celebrate an occasion, such as your child’s birthday, please keep the following in mind:

  • We have many students with allergies, so be sure to discuss treats with the classroom teacher first. All treats must be pre-approved by the classroom teacher. No food sent in for birthdays/celebrations will be consumed at school. It will be sent home in backpacks.

  • All food items sent in must be individually wrapped, factory packaged, and include a list of ingredients. Again, no food sent in for birthdays/celebrations will be consumed at school. It will be sent home in backpacks.

  • We encourage non-food items such as stickers, small containers of playdough or bubbles, temporary tattoos, glow sticks, or crayons and coloring books.

  • No balloons or large decorations will be permitted in the building.

Please call the office to report your child's absence at 284-8250 before 9:15 AM. Our phone has 24-hour voicemail so that you may call and leave a message anytime. Please leave a voicemail if no one answers the phone in the office; voicemails are frequently checked and the office will receive your message.

Please make sure you always have a photo ID with you, when you come to the school, this is for the safety of our students.

The Main Office of any school building is a hub of activity. Students and staff are always on the go, in and out of the space throughout the school day.

It’s an active place for regular check-ins and meetings with students, as well as staff conferences and daily interactions with school principals and counselors. The Main Office is also a confidential space at times for conversations and interactions between school personnel and students.

Parents and caregivers are part of the equation, too. For any number of reasons, parents may be asked to come to their child’s school during the day. When that happens, parents should follow the district’s visitor procedures by using the school’s main entrance buzzer and intercom system to gain entrance to the school, and then signing in at the front desk.

If parents/caregivers do not have a meeting at the school but still need to come to the school during the day to see their child or to speak to a staff member, call-ahead notice or an appointment is required.

This ensures parents will be seen in a timely manner and upholds the safety practices of the school. To contact the Main Office, please call 440-284-8250.
