🌞 We can’t wait for a summer full of learning, laughter, and memories! 🌞

Week 3 Family Focus! Week 3 Family Focus!

What to Know for the week ahead:

Halfway Through Summer Discovery

It's hard to believe we're already entering Week 3 of Summer Discovery! The first-day nerves have faded, routines are becoming second nature, and students are building confidence with each passing day.

We've loved watching friendships grow, seeing students try new things, and hearing stories about the learning and fun happening throughout our building.

Growing Confidence

One of the greatest gifts of summer school is the opportunity for students to gain independence and confidence in a smaller, relaxed environment. Whether it's making a new friend, participating in a class discussion, trying a challenging activity, or navigating a field trip, we're seeing students take positive risks and shine in new ways.

Summer Adventures Ahead

Many classes are enjoying special presentations and field trips as part of their Summer Discovery experience. These opportunities help bring learning to life while creating memories students will remember long after summer ends. Be sure to watch for communication from your child's teacher regarding any upcoming events or special activities.

Learning Through Exploration

Summer learning often looks different than traditional school, and that's by design.

Students are collaborating, creating, reading, building, exploring, and discovering through hands-on experiences that make learning meaningful and engaging.

Ask your child:

"What was your favorite part of today?"
or
"What is something new you tried this week?"

The Power of Encouragement

As we reach the halfway point, continue encouraging your child to do their best, be kind to others, and embrace new experiences. A little encouragement from home can go a long way in helping students feel confident and successful.

Stay Connected

Continue checking Rooms messages, classroom updates, and your child's backpack for important reminders, photos, and upcoming events. We love sharing the smiles, learning, and memories being made each day!

Thank You

Thank you for partnering with us and helping make Summer Discovery such a positive experience for your child. Together, we're creating a summer full of learning, friendship, confidence, and sunshine.

We can't wait to see what the second half of Summer Discovery brings!seeing our students shine during Week 1 and 2 and can't wait to see what Week 3 brings!

Summer Discovery Need to Know Facts: Summer Discovery Need to Know Facts:

School Hours:

  • Grades K-4, Elementary Schools: 8:35am - 3:40pm
  • Attendance popsicle parties will be held weekly for students with 100% attendance

Attendance Matters

Our ability to offer this program at no cost to families depends on the attendance rate we report to the state. Therefore, your child's consistent attendance is very important. To encourage this, we will hold surprise extra recess days with classes that have 100% attendance as well as popsicle parties for students with 100% attendance weekly.

Transportation

MVR-III will use the BusRight Parent App to communicate bus routes and times to parents. BusRight is a FREE parent app to allow parents to, in real-time, follow their child's bus route to and from school, receive notifications when the bus begins and ends its route, view the expected arrival time at their child's designated bus stop, and receive communication from the Transportation Department.

To access BusRight, please follow these simple steps:

  1. Download the App: Download the BusRight app from your mobile device's app store.
  2. Create an Account: Use your Infinite Campus email address to create a login.
  3. Track Your Student: Begin tracking your child's bus routes immediately.

If you have issues creating your account, you will need to verify with your school building office that you are listed as the primary guardian in Infinite Campus. Find out more on BusRight on the District website under Transportation.

Summer Discovery Communication

Parents are encouraged to download the FREE MVR-III School District mobile app to streamline school communication on the go. Find the Meramec Valley R-III School District app in the Apple App or Google Play Store. Be sure to select notifications from your preferred buildings and enable Push Notifications on your phone settings. Teachers will use the Rooms link inside the MVR-III app to communicate directly with parents.

Rooms makes it easier to stay in touch with teachers and class information from that same app. You can easily switch from district and school information in the app to Rooms, where you can see your student's classes and engage directly with teachers.

Rooms can be accessed via the web (at edurooms.com) and from our district app, which is available for free and can be used from both Apple and Android phones. To access Rooms, you will need to create a login and password.

Summer Meal Program

MVR-III has once again been awarded a grant from the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) to offer free breakfast and lunch throughout the summer months. This wonderful opportunity is available to all children in our community who are 18 years of age or younger, as well as all students enrolled in our summer school programs and the School Age Child Care (SACC) program.

Behavior Expectations

To ensure a caring and productive learning environment for all students, we have established clear expectations for behavior during Summer Discovery. These expectations focus on creating safe, respectful, and engaging spaces where everyone can thrive.

We believe in guiding students to make positive choices. When a student's behavior is unsafe, interferes with learning, or demonstrates a lack of respect, we will partner with parents to address the situation collaboratively. Our approach involves a tiered system of support. If a student requires support from the office on three occasions due to behaviors that do not align with our expectations and student handbook, the student will be dismissed from the program after the third discipline report. Our goal is to work together to ensure a successful and beneficial experience for every student.

To maintain a safe and supportive learning environment for all students, Coleman Elementary will follow this three-step behavior protocol during Summer Discovery:

Strike 1 –

  • The teacher and student will review expectations together.
  • Parents will be notified by the teacher.

Strike 2 –

  • The teacher and administrator will meet with the student to revisit expectations.
  • Parents will be contacted by the administrator.

Strike 3 –

  • The student will be removed from the classroom.
  • After a review with the administrator, parents will be notified, and the student will not be permitted to return for the remainder of the summer session.

Our goal is always to partner with families to help students succeed.

Thank you for your support in creating a positive experience for everyone

Summer School Breakfast and Lunch Menu

Parent Pick-up/Drop-off Procedures Parent Pick-up/Drop-off Procedures

To keep things safe, smooth, and consistent for every child, please review our arrival and dismissal procedures. You’ll find visuals attached to help clarify the flow for both drop-off and pick-up.

πŸ•— Morning Drop-Off (8:05–8:35 AM)

  • Drop-off location: Main entrance.

  • Doors open at 8:05 AM. Students arriving between 8:05–8:20 eat breakfast in the cafeteria or go to recess. Students are released to classrooms at 8:20.

  • After 8:35: Students are tardy. Please park, walk your child in, and sign them in at the office.

  • Walk-Ups: Use the crosswalk and say goodbyes at the door. Visitors must check in with ID to enter the building.

🚌 Dismissal (Begins at 3:25 PM)

There are three options for end-of-day dismissal:

    • SACC (Aftercare): Dismissal at 3:25 PM to the SACC entrance.

    • Bus Riders: Dismissed at 3:35 PM. Buses aim to leave by 3:40–3:45 PM. Please allow extra time the first week as routes adjust.

    • Car Riders:

      • Line begins at the doors on the lower level.

      • KidAccount scanning starts at 3:15 PM. Have your card or app ready or show ID.

      • Cars begin loading at 3:35 PM. Please pull to a green cone and wait for staff to release the line.

    πŸŽ’ Important Reminders:

    • We use KidAccount to track dismissal accurately. All students remain in their dismissal areas until staff mark them for release.

    • Any dismissal changes must go through the office by 2:00 PM. Calling the office ensures updates are made in KidAccount and teachers are notified.

**Teachers are focused on instruction and SACC is not usually staffed during the day soβ€”office communication is key.**

2026-27 Kindergarten Registration 2026-27 Kindergarten Registration

      Dear MVR-III Families,

      Kindergarten registration IS OPEN!!

Because you are an existing family within the district, this will be completed through your Infinite Campus Parent Portal. Watch this IC online registration video for a preview.

If you do not have your Infinite Campus Parent Portal set up, please contact your school building secretary for assistance. You will be provided a KEY, which can be entered on this Infinite Campus-New User webpage to create your account.

To make the process as easy and efficient as possible for families, the district has streamlined registration so you can take care of several important tasks at the same time.

Through a single login in Infinite Campus, you can confirm information for all students in your household, which will complete your:

      • required Annual Update,
      • register your child for kindergarten (if applicable),
      • and enroll K–8 students in 2026 Summer Discovery.

Completing all three tasks at once saves time and eliminates the need to complete separate registrations.

***An email from the district was sent out with exact directions - if you did not receive it but would like me to send it your way please reach out to me or our school office!***
