As we progress into the latter part of the term, we are seeing a change in the weather. Having learners bring raincoats and jackets will become more important. Just a reminder that students may wear a non-TNIS rain jacket for travel to and from school, but they will need a TNIS Hoodie to stay warm while at school. Thank you for your support in maintaining our high uniform standards.
Additionally, this time of year marks the start of the transition for our Year 8 students as they move to high school. Many local high schools will host open mornings or evenings. It's crucial for parents to promptly enrol their children in their in-zone high schools. TNIS will host presentations for the Year 8s from Westlake Girls and Boys and Takapuna Grammar over the next few weeks, highlighting what each school offers. Details about the TGS open evening and enrolment are included in the flyer later in this newsletter.
Lockdown Practice
On Monday, June 8th, at 2:15 PM, we will conduct a Lockdown Practice. Like our evacuation drills, these practices are mandatory for health and safety, ensuring students know what to do in these unlikely emergencies. You will receive an app alert message from the school when we go into this practice lockdown and another message when it has been completed. We expect that the practice will be finished by 2.45PM.
During this drill, parents will NOT be able to collect their children from school. If you have an appointment, please consider picking up your child before 1:00 PM (Lunchtime), as the office will be locked during the practice, and finding your child in our busy playground between 1:00 and 2:00 PM could be difficult.

SCHOOL NEWS AND INFORMATION
WELLBEING AT TNIS
Wellbing at TNIS is an important part of the school experience. This extends to our Whānau as well. In every newsletter we will have wellbing ideas and things you can do at home.
To catch up on all of our Wellbeing posts, please read here.
ICAS 2026
ICAS is an online academic competition that gives students the opportunity to challenge their higher order thinking and problem-solving skills. TNIS will host 3 subjects in 2026: English, Mathematics and Science.
ICAS results are in-depth and meaningful, and ICAS evaluates student performance against other competition entrants across the state and nation. The data reveals student strengths and weaknesses and can help you recognise and support your child's academic journey.
Learn more about ICAS here: (icasassessments.com/products-icas/).
The Assessments Calendar with dates of purchase and the windows in which the text is sat can be found HERE.
