Math games to build fluency
Math fluency is more than memorizing math facts! It helps students develop number sense, recognize patterns, and solve problems accurately, efficiently, and flexibly. When students build strong math fluency skills, they become more confident mathematicians!
Families can support math fluency at home through simple, fun games using a deck of cards and dice. Try one of these activities together!
Flip a card and roll a die. Start with the number on the card and count forward by the number rolled. For example, start at 7, roll a 4, and count: 8, 9, 10, 11!
Go Fishing for Pairs That Make 10
Play Go Fish with a twist! Instead of matching numbers, find two cards that add up to 10. For example, "I have a 2. Do you have an 8?"
Take turns flipping cards and adding their values to your total. The first player to reach 100 without going over wins!
Just 5–10 minutes of math games at home can help strengthen your child's number sense and confidence. Remember, the goal is not just speed, but helping students think flexibly about numbers.

Fall STEM Courses
Red Ribbon Week - Oct. 26th to Oct 30th
Students are welcome to wear school-appropriate costumes on Friday, October 30th! Please remember that masks, weapons, and weapon-like props are not permitted on campus. Costumes should be comfortable, safe, and allow students to fully participate in classroom learning and school activities. Our priority is maintaining a positive learning environment, so students may be asked to change into regular clothing if their costume becomes a distraction.

Military Corner
Military families are invited to connect with their School Liaison by signing up to receive a weekly email. A School Liaison’s primary function is to serve as a conduit between parents, educators, and the command so military-connected children experience a seamless transition during the transfer between schools. Once settled, a School Liaison provides military families with up-to-date education and Navy resources available in support of PreK-12 students. To opt in to receive emails from your School Liaison, Mindy Hayes, email nbcslo@us.navy.mil or call 619-991-2509.
