Term 4 Week 6 - Thursday November 20 2025
PRAYER
God of New Beginnings,
Thank You that with You, every day is a chance to start fresh. Help me to leave behind the mistakes of yesterday and embrace the possibilities of today. Give me courage to step into the new things You have for me.
Remove fear and hesitation from my heart. Replace them with faith and boldness. May this new beginning be marked by growth, learning, and a deeper walk with You.
"Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it?" - Isaiah 43:19
Start something new in me
Amen.
Calendar of Events
STAFF MORNING TEA
On behalf of the staff, I would like to sincerely thank the Year 6 parents for the sumptuous morning tea they provided for our staff last Friday. The morning tea was great but the speech (and notes from families) that went with the morning tea was what the staff truly appreciated. We often get caught up in the complexities and ‘full on’ nature of schooling. To hear how important we are to families, and how we have touched their children’s lives was the thanks we, as staff crave. Thank you.
P&F DISCO/CRAZY HAIR DAY
Another thank you to the P&F for arranging the Disco and Crazy Hair Day. The executive and volunteers do an amazing job giving our children experiences that they will remember for a lifetime. We look forward to 2026 and a year of memories.
MJR AWARDS
We have our Making Jesus Real Awards tomorrow at our final MJR Gathering for the year. This award is special because it acknowledges the students who strive to be friendly, compassionate, accepting; the values that Jesus lived by. The students who have received this award this semester will be sharing a Pizza lunch on Monday.
KINDY INFORMATION SESSION 2026
For many of our parents and children, Kindergarten is their first introduction to school life. To find out more about our Kindergarten Program, we will be holding a parent information session for parents of children who will be attending in 2026. This will be on WEDNESDAY 26TH NOVEMBER starting at 5.30pm. This is a great opportunity for parents to meet the Kindy teacher and some of the providers we have available at our school.
CHRISTMAS CONCERT
Our 2025 Christmas Concert will be held on WEDNESDAY 3 DECEMBER starting at 5.30pm. At the concert, we will be saying our thanks and goodbyes as well as hearing the true meaning of Christmas through songs and tradition. The gates will open at 5.00pm. As we will be having the gates open to allow parking on the Basketball Courts, for safety reasons (children and cars don’t mix well), the classrooms will be open for students from this time. The children are welcome to sit with the family, but there is to be no running around. For the safety of all, we ask that parents assist us with this.
THANKSGIVING MASS
We invite all families to attend our Thanksgiving Mass on FRIDAY 5 DECEMBER at 9.00am. This Mass is an opportunity to celebrate our year and to give thanks for the wonderful community that Queen of Apostles is. Please come and celebrate with us.
ACM
Lastly….
We held our Annual Community Meeting last night. At the meeting, the P&F and School Advisory Council presented their reports to the Community. I would like to acknowledge the 2025 SAC and thank them for their contributions to our school. I would especially like to acknowledge the retiring members of the SAC - Andrew Upfold, Jamie Liu and Carrie Lee-Williamson. Their insight and passion for our school has been very much appreciated. It is through the willingness of our parent community to volunteer their time and energies, that our school is able to flourish. I would also like to welcome Tracy Italiano, Carly Watt and Steven Heffernan to the 2026 School Advisory Council. Our school is blessed to have such wonderful parents.
On the P&F front, I wish to thank the P&F executive (and all who volunteered at events ) for their dedication to fundraising and friend raising. I would like to acknowledge and thank both Tracy Italiano and Cat Domican who are retiring from the President and Vice President positions. Tracy and Cat have been tireless in their efforts to provide the Queenies community with opportunities to enhance the learning experiences of our students. Our community thanks you. We welcome Bianca Di Silvio and Brooke Eardley to the P&F Executive. We look forward to the P&F continuing to provide our children with the experiences that make Queenies such a wonderful place to learn.
The community were also informed that we have some staff members who will be leaving us at the end of this year. Will Ellis (Year 5), Mel Reid (EA Year 1) and Pam Johansen (EA Years 3-6) are moving on to new life adventures. We wish them every blessing for the future. Valencia Maloney will be taking a years leave. She will be returning in 2027. We welcome back Jess Jensen from her overseas adventures and welcome Mr Alphonsus Chui to the Queen of Apostles Community.

Canteen News
Canteen Volunteers
Our canteen manager, Sharon is in need of assistance on Thursday and Friday mornings. If you can spare an hour or two on either of these days, please see Sharon. A reminder that the Volunteers Form will need to be filled out if it hasn’t already been submitted this year. Due to Child Safety regulations, only parents can volunteer in the canteen – friends or grandparents require a Working With Children Card.
Volunteering
The Government of WA have amended the Working with Children Act last year with the changes implemented to better protect children. Catholic Education WA has mandated this process for all volunteers, including parent volunteers in schools. This includes parents who wish to volunteer at sports carnivals, in classrooms and at P&F events. Could we ask that all parents fill in the Volunteer Declaration (link) even if you have no plans at this stage to volunteer at school. If you filled out the form last year you will need to do it again this year. Parents who wish to assist teachers on excursions will need to be on this list. Your information will be stored securely in accordance with CEWA’s Information Stewardship. We highly value parent volunteers' time and contribution to our school community and thank-you for taking the time to submit the form below.
Any grandparents that wish to volunteer in the classroom or assist in the canteen will need a Working With Children Check. Please note this does not include drop off, pick up or attendance at our Grandparents Mass and Morning Tea. Grandparents that would like to volunteer at school, please contact the school office and we can assist you in the process.
