As we come to the end of another school year, I want to take a moment to say Meri Kirihimete to our St Teresa’s whānau and to thank you for the incredible support you have shown our school throughout 2025.

This year has been full. Full of learning, growth, challenges, laughter, prayer and moments of deep connection. It has also been a year where our community has carried grief and walked alongside one another through difficult moments. I am deeply grateful for the compassion, patience and care shown to our children, staff and families. The way this community has wrapped around one another speaks volumes about who we are and what we stand for.

None of what we do at St Teresa’s happens in isolation. It happens because of the strength of our community. Our families, parish, Board, staff, students and wider whānau all walk together with a shared commitment to our children.

Thank you to our parents and caregivers for your trust, encouragement, volunteering, fundraising, transport, kind words and constant backing. Thank you to our Board for their stewardship and guidance, and to our parish for walking alongside us in faith. Your belief in our school and in our tamariki makes a real and lasting difference.

As I farewell St Teresa’s, I do so with immense gratitude and pride. Leading this school has been a privilege. Together, we have climbed aboard the waka and paddled with purpose. Because of the courage, professionalism, care and faith of this community, St Ts is the strong, values driven and inclusive school it is today.

To our incredible staff, thank you for your unwavering commitment to our children, for embracing change, for holding fast to our values of Faith, Justice, Love and Humility, and for always putting tamariki at the heart of everything you do. You are the soul of this place.

To our students, you are the reason we do this work. You fill our school with joy, curiosity, kindness and hope. Each of you carries the spirit of St Teresa’s with you wherever you go, and that is something truly special.

As we move into the Christmas season, may you find time to rest, reconnect and celebrate with those you love. May the peace and hope of Christ’s birth be present in your homes and hearts.

Thank you for letting me be part of this remarkable journey. St Teresa’s will always hold a very special place in my heart.

Meri Kirihimete and blessings for a safe, joyful and restful holiday season.

Ngā mihi nui
