- Balance -

Greetings to the class 2022 and to the Warrior Nation,

The term Balance has several different meanings and variations depending on how it applies to particular situations. For example, it can describe the amount of assets that you have in an bank account. It can mean that a person is physically in a position of equilibrium, or it can mean keeping everything that you are responsible for upright and stable. Does balance, or the lack of balance in ones life, truly effect future outcomes? How does that weigh on each of us in our quest to be great students and citizens here at WCHS?

The aspect of balance that intrigues me is the aspect of "mental and emotional steadiness". In order to get the most out of ourselves, we have to have balance in all aspects of life. Equal parts to social, emotional, reflection, academic, extra-curricular, family, and time on tasks. If the various parts of life are equally balanced, it becomes easier to manage the day and take on the challenges that present themselves. I encourage each of you to slow down and find a healthy balance of all that is expected of you! Take time to sort out the duties assigned to you and keep the end goal in mind. Know that you can lean on your cohort team for help, support and any guidance that you may need this week! We won't let you down!!!!

Have a great week and keep your focus on staying balanced and healthy!

WC-Strong!

Much Love,

Mr. Russell - Cohort Dean

Class of - 2022 -

We have 5 weeks of school left! WHAT? FIVE WEEKS!

When I consider what that means, I think about how often we either procrastinate or rush to get things done. Neither produces our BEST work. It is imperative that we slow down, create a plan, and work the plan. There needs to be a Balance of grinding the work out and letting mind, body, and spirit rejuvenate.

I challenge you to truly balance your responsibilities this week with your relaxation and relationships. Do not let one overtake the other, instead let them work harmoniously!

Remember, I am here to assist you! I KNOW YOU CAN DO THIS!

- Never stop trying...

- Never stop believing...

- Never give up on yourself...

- Because you are enough...

Front Desk Facts...

From Mrs. Boyd - your Cohort Secretary!!!

Here we grow again students with 5 days of learning and leaning on each other to keep everything in Balance! You already know that the daily grind is tough and can be overwhelming at times...that's why I'm telling you to take a pause and get everything back in balance. Slow down and figure out what is important vs what's "hot" that moment! Think about it...if we get to doing too much too fast, the outcome is going to be less than 100% for whatever we were trying to do. But, if we make time to take time on the important things, the outcome is going to be much better. I don't want any of you falling off or loosing your mojo, so slow down and get your feet under you so your walk will be smooth and balanced. If you need some help...come through my office so I can take some weight off you shoulders and get you back out there to make a difference! Yeah...I got that love for you!!!! Come by so we can catch up!!!

Come get a bag of chips too - I'm Cheetoed out y'all!!!

Remember, If you have a new phone number, email address or new address where you live please get that information to me as soon as possible. If you have moved or your address has changed you must provide me with a new lease or mortgage and utility bill information.

Work permits are still being accepted. You can come by with your completed forms and I will look up all of your information to see if you will granted permission to be employed and earn some good money this semester. FYI...school work comes first!

You have 24 hours each day to make moves, use your time wisely!!!

The Balance we want for the class of 2022....

This week we want you to be thinking about work/life/school balance. It's a concept that often seems very straightforward and obvious, yet many of us struggle with it tremendously.

Overall balance means taking the time to do what needs to be done for you to be successful at work, school, and life while also making time to take care of your mental and physical health. Because this is a school newsletter, you may be expecting that the message here is "stop wasting time and get your work done." While that is partially true, the greater need is to keep the scale balanced and keep it from shifting too far too quickly. Us old people can share countless stories of students who allowed themselves to get out of balance and didn't give their body/mind/soul the proper rest or recovery time. "Balance" is the key, and while it can take some time and work to find that right balance, it's entirely worth the effort.

Tips for maintaining balance:

1. Set aside a block of time each evening and decide that that block of time will only be used for school work.

2. Find your own motivation in your work - focus on that inner drive and let that fuel burn bright as you accomplish goals and milestones.

3. Take at least 20-30 minutes out of each day for "me-time." Healthy options of course!!!

4. Listen to your loved ones. Find those folks in your life who are healthy and happy and steal their secrets.

5. Be OK with letting people know you are not available. Sometimes it's good to shut it down and catch up with them the next time.

It is critical that each of you remember to check your emails at least a few times each week to stay informed and connected. There is a lot of information that's going to come your way in the weeks to come to ensure that you are ready for graduation. Please don't miss any opportunities, so get in the habit now of staying current with communication from the school.

If you have a questions about what's going on and you're not sure where to look, the 2022 Cohort Canvas page is a great place to start (it's also located at the bottom of this newsletter)!

Please remember to reach out to Mr. Fletcher with questions about SAT/ACT, fee waivers, scholarships, college applications, and all things related to preparing to continue your education. gfletche@warren.k12.in.us

Don't forget that we love you...

Don't forget that we're proud of you...

Most importantly, don't forget to love and be proud of yourself!

We LOVE you 2022...
