Waukazoo Newsletter

We are gearing up for an exciting month at Waukazoo for March is Reading Month! Between our PTA and our March is Reading month committee of teachers, we have so many exciting events planned for students with our theme, Camp Read-A-Lot. You should have received a calendar this week with many of our exciting events happening at school. In addition, all our families have an opportunity to earn tickets to a Grand Rapids Gold game in March for completing time reading at home. All of these fun activities can get overwhelming too. Please make choices for your family in what you plan to engage in and what might need to be something you instead look forward to next year.

Here are some highlights coming this month:

• Tuesday, March 4: PTA sponsored Author Visit
• Friday, March 5: Read a shirt or hat day (a shirt or hat with words on it!)
• Thursday, March 13: PTA Book Swap Bingo! 5:30-6:30pm in the Multi-Purpose Room
• Friday, March 14: Wear camping or flannel gear
• Saturday, March 22: Grand Rapids Gold Game- See more information here!
• Friday, March 28: Build a tent day AND Outdoor Discovery Center assemblies (sponsored by PTA)
• Tuesday, April 1: Reading Logs Due

In addition, we will be hosting the Scholastic Book Fair starting March 10 for two weeks! This fun event gives all our students the opportunity to browse and choose to purchase books of their liking. We hope all our families are able to enjoy this year's fair, for students during school, and for families during Book Swap Bingo and conferences.

Also coming in March are Parent/Teacher conferences(sign-up link will be coming next week). These will be held on:

• Monday, March 17 from 5-8pm
• Thursday, March 20 from 1-4pm and 5-8pm

Students also have half days and a day off coming up soon as well:

• Half days (dismissal at 11:52am):
• Thursday, March 20 for Parent Teacher conferences
• Wednesday, March 26 for Teacher Professional Development
• Day off
• Friday, March 21
• Spring Break
• First day of break begins April 4 through April 13
