PRINCIPAL UPDATE PRINCIPAL UPDATE

Dear Families,

As we approach the holiday season, I want to take a moment to express how thankful I am for our amazing school community. Each day, I am reminded of the kindness, dedication, and enthusiasm that make our school a wonderful place for students to grow and thrive. Thank you for your continued partnership and support—it truly makes a difference.

This week’s BIG ANNOUNCEMENT is about Camp Tanuga! Thank you to all the parents who attended the meeting to learn about this exciting opportunity. For families with a 5th-grade student, your child will bring home the Camp Tanuga information packet and the Hungry Howie’s fundraising kit today. We hope every student can participate in this unique and enriching experience. If you have any questions or need assistance, please don’t hesitate to reach out. The slide deck and recorded zoom are included in this edition of the S'more.

Looking ahead, a quick reminder that school is in session next week on Monday and Tuesday. We’ll then take a short break and look forward to welcoming students back to the building on Monday, December 2nd.

Wishing you and your family a restful and joyful Thanksgiving!

Gooooooooooooo Lakers!

Blaine McDowell

5th GRADE CAMP TANUGA INFO 5th GRADE CAMP TANUGA INFO

Every spring, the 5th graders at Sheiko Elementary go to Camp Tanuga in Kalkaska, MI. This year’s trip will be May 20th - May 22nd. Students will ride to camp on a Motor Coach transportation bus (with bathroom) and an all inclusive three day/two night camping experience. This is truly an incredible experience for your student, we are very excited to be providing a camp opportunity again this year.

Yesterday we had an informational zoom meeting. If you were unable to attend please use this link to view the recording. https://wbsd-org.zoom.us/rec/share/O0VocsFtjMURiQyhHQl5Cc25kQC57aTk4hSGt2sr1AKvnHuewoZcBzsgjDdnOWu8.qmW6mfpxkjToMfFg

We always welcome parents/guardians to drop off lunch for their student. However, we will not accept food deliveries for students from vendors. This is a saftey issue. If food is delivered from a vendor, your student can pick it up from the office at the end of the school day. Thank you.

UNITED WE WALK UNITED WE WALK

The button contest for students in grades K-5 are open now! Please save the date for a wonderful, free community event Sunday, January 19. We start at 2 p.m. with the presentation where our oratorical and button contest winners will be honored. We walk at 3 p.m. (inside West Bloomfield Middle School in inclement weather). And we participate in community service and children's activities after the walk. We hope you will join us that day as we keep the spirit of Dr. King alive. This year's theme is Continuing the Dream: Building Bridges of Unity.
