WE CAN DO HARD THINGS!
Dear ExCEL Students,
We’ve started the 4th quarter, the weather is turning beautiful, and sometimes it’s just hard to do school! I understand. But guess what, we can do hard things! I know that because I’ve watched so many of you succeed through challenging circumstances this year. Some of your stories have shown me that giving up isn’t an option for you.
Have you ever run a marathon? (me neither!) How about a 5K? I ran one of those once, and I’m not a great runner. Towards the end, I had to push to make it, but I did it, and you know what? I felt pretty good. I accomplished something that was difficult. I don’t think there’s ever been a time when I’ve worked really hard for something, achieved it, and then regretted it. No matter what’s going on right now, don’t give up. You won’t regret getting good grades and passing to the next grade. I promise you’ll go into summer feeling like a million bucks. Hang in there! You got this.

You are ready: Your teachers have provided you with the knowledge and skills necessary for success.
Give it your all: Concentrate on showcasing your understanding and applying what you’ve learned.
Stay optimistic: Trust in your abilities and approach the exams with confidence and calmness.
PARENTS
Your involvement is vital to your child's success. Here are some ways you can assist:
Foster a positive mindset: Remind your child that you believe in their capabilities and appreciate their efforts.
Encourage a growth mindset: Help them see that challenges are chances to learn and grow.
Maintain a healthy routine: Ensure they get enough sleep and have a nutritious breakfast on test days.
Review test-taking strategies: Go over and practice effective techniques for managing time and tackling questions.
Stay in touch with teachers/staff: Feel free to reach out if you have any questions or need extra support.
Together, we can make a difference! By collaborating as a team ~ students, parents, and teachers ~ we can create a nurturing environment that enhances the testing experience.

Mr. Ketterman
As spring arrives, bringing with it a sense of excitement often called "spring fever," it's crucial to stay focused on your goals. "Spring fever" isn't a medical condition, but a widespread feeling associated with the changing seasons and how our bodies react to more sunlight and warmer weather. The tempting warmer weather and outdoor fun can easily divert your attention, but maintaining a clear mindset is vital as you progress through the ExCEL program. Make sure to prioritize your responsibilities and stay organized to take full advantage of the opportunities that await you. By keeping in touch with your support network and staying dedicated, you'll be well-prepared to maximize this experience and reach your ambitions. Keep up the fantastic work!

I know that state testing can feel a little intimidating, but I want you all to remember something important: you are prepared, and you are capable. You've been working hard all year, and you’ve gained so much knowledge and experience that will help you tackle these tests with confidence.
If you're feeling nervous, that’s totally okay. It’s normal to feel that way, but try to focus on the effort you’ve put in rather than the outcome. The test doesn’t define you—your growth and persistence do. Take it one step at a time, and remember to breathe. You're not alone in this. I’m here to support you, and we’ve got a whole team behind you, cheering you on!
Stay positive, do your best, and trust in the work you’ve already done. You’ve got this, and I believe in you.
