August 22, 2021

As we experience the end of another summer that has gone by far too fast, we hope that you and your family are looking forward to the opening of the new school year. The beginning of a new school year brings much anticipation, excitement and frequently, a little nervousness. Facing the challenges of COVID-19 simply heightens all of these feelings. To help address concerns, we want to share the following:

  • We are planning for a full in-person instructional model, 5 days/week, full day schedule (8:25 a.m. - 2:45 p.m for Kindergarten and 8:25 a.m. - 3:00 p.m for Grades 1-5).
  • Doors will open at 8:00 a.m. for students in grades K-5. Students in grades K-5 are not to arrive at school prior to 8:00 a.m.
  • Breakfast will be offered at both Grandview Elementary School and the Morrisville Intermediate School from 8:00 a.m. - 8:20 a.m.
  • Students will receive their devices during the first week of school. Parent(s)/Guardian(s) will be required to sign and submit a student equipment distribution form.
  • Currently, masks are required in our school buildings.
  • We will continue to use hand sanitizer stations as students enter and exit the classrooms and promote good hand hygiene with frequent hand-washing throughout the school day.
  • Custodians will continue to thoroughly clean classrooms, hallways and bathrooms.

  • It is recommended that you continue to follow the Superintendent's Blog for updates and revisions to the District Health and Safety Plan.

Please know that the faculty and staff join us in looking forward to the 2021-2022 school year and are excited to welcome our students back. Enjoy the remainder of summer!

Welcome Back Letters

Welcome letters were sent to families of students in Kindergarten through grade five last week. These letters list the name of your child's teacher for the 2021-2022 school year.

Emergency Cards

Every student will receive an emergency card. It is extremely important for the student to return an accurate emergency card. This information is needed to contact a parent/guardian in the event of an emergency. Please be sure to contact the front office should you need to update the information on these cards at any time throughout the year.

Power School/Schoology

During the summer months, our technology department has been hard at work on the transition from Genesis and Google Classroom to the PowerSchool and Schoology platforms. PowerSchool will now serve as our Student Information System (SIS) where student information and academic reporting will be maintained. Schoology is an interactive Learning Management System (LMS) that promotes digital inclusion within the classroom.

Both platforms provide parents, guardians, students, teachers, and administrators the opportunity to access and review student progress and information. Parent/Guardian and student logins will be distributed by Mr. Jon Shiota, our Director of District Operations. Please review our district website for further details regarding the process and timelines.

Back-to-School Nights

Back-to-School Nights have been planned for both Grandview and the Intermediate Schools. These events will be held in person this year. Back to School Night for Grandview Elementary (Grades K-2) will take place on Tuesday evening, September 14, 2021, beginning at 6:30 pm.

There was also an arrival/dismissal map included in the letters that describes the procedures for dropping off and picking up students at the beginning and end of the school day.
