From Script to Screen: Behind the Lens Film Festival Returns for Year 11
By Tyler Everly ‘26 and Alex Boston ‘26
Congratulations to all the filmmakers who participated in the 11th annual Behind the Lens film festival. On Wednesday night there was a showdown of 26 films ranging from comedy to documentary. These films represent the creative geniuses not just from Tennent but from Middle, elementary and other schools from our area. The festival was hosted by media professionals Mr. Jason Lee (also a Tennent alum) and Mr. Tony Sadowski (also a Centennial School Board Director). We also welcomed special guest Mr. Bruce Gordon, of Fox 29 and a Tennent alum. Films were judged by a panel of industry professionals, and we are grateful for their time and expertise.
A special thanks goes out to all the student volunteers and teachers who helped support every filmmaker and who made the event run smoothly. And a very big thank you to Mrs. Dina McCaffery who made this night possible.

Klinger 2026 Animation Club
This year, students at Klinger have brought creativity to life with the launch of the new Animation Club. Meeting once a month, club members explore digital animation by creating and sharing their own original work. Using tools such as Klecki, students have designed GIFs and presented their creations to peers, learning new techniques from one another along the way.
As the club has grown, students have begun collaborating on a shared storyboard to develop a group animation. After voting on a song, they worked together to craft a storyline that reflects their collective ideas and creativity. Their goal is to complete this project for an exciting end-of-year presentation.
Looking ahead, members hope to expand their skills by exploring additional animation styles, including stop-motion and film techniques. The Animation Club has quickly become a valuable creative outlet where students can collaborate, express themselves, and showcase their unique talents.
CSD School Board Recognizes Teachers for their Work on the Fine Arts Festval!
We are thrilled to celebrate the outstanding achievements of our teachers during the recent Fine Arts Festival week at Centennial School District. Their dedication and creativity shone brightly, making the event a resounding success. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who worked tirelessly behind the scenes to bring this festival to life!
Diplomacy in William Tennent High School
We were thrilled to welcome Raul Garcia Zentlapal, Deputy Consul of Mexico in Philadelphia, to William Tennent High School! His visit to our Conflict, Diplomacy, and Resolution class provided students with an invaluable, first-hand perspective on diplomacy in action. Thank you for inspiring our future leaders!
Understanding the Dangers of Online Exploitation
As we work to teach our students respectful, responsible, and safe online behaviors, we are excited to be hosting an event for elementary school parents and guardians on Tuesday, May 5th, from 7:00 to 8:30 pm in the William Tennent High School auditorium. Educators from NOVA will be presenting on important online safety topics.
This event was planned to provide our community with information on building our children's foundations for staying safe online. Hear from prevention educators on ways to promote a digital space that creates important connections, all while understanding the dangers of online exploitation.
For more questions, please reach out to Carol Riggs (CSD School Social Worker) at riggca@centennialsd.org.
We hope to see you there!
Klinger Reading Olympics
On Thursday, April 9th, the Klinger Middle School Reading Olympics teams participated in the annual reading celebration event held at Unami Middle School. The day showcased months of preparation, teamwork, and a shared love of reading as both teams represented their school with pride.
This year’s teams—the Alias Readers and the Bookie Monsters—met once a month from September through March to read a wide variety of books, practice comprehension skills, and prepare for the challenge of competition.
The Alias Readers delivered an outstanding performance, earning a blue ribbon with an impressive 59 points. They stood out as one of the top-performing teams and should be extremely proud of their achievement.
The Bookie Monsters also had a strong showing, demonstrating determination and teamwork throughout the event. They narrowly missed earning a blue ribbon by just three points, finishing with 47 points and receiving a red ribbon. Their close score highlights how hard they worked and how well prepared they were, making their performance something to be proud of.
Overall, both teams represented Klinger Middle School with excellence. The Alias Readers’ blue ribbon finish was a major success, while the Bookie Monsters’ close result showed just how competitive and dedicated they were. Together, they made Klinger proud through their effort, enthusiasm, and commitment to reading.
