K-2 Literacy Assessment Maps & Overview Presentation
⭐Instructional Resources aligned to literacy assessments
Universal Screeners
Thank you for taking time to get to know your students during the first few weeks of school, both academically and socially. We aligned our K-2 literacy assessments to updated legislation that will require school districts to administer universal screeners to ensure all students stay on track while learning to read. We also have a K-8 plan for diagnostic assessment which provides you with valuable information about your new students. We are excited that our 6-8th grade Core/English teachers will be implementing a new reading assessment, NWEA MAP Growth.
Professional Development
This year's Professional Learning Plan is organized by Strategic Plan focus areas. Another positive change is that we have differentiated the learning opportunities to meet site needs and goals. We will share our learning throughout the year with each other so that we continue to grow together.
Upcoming professional growth opportunities:
- Elementary Social Studies Grade Level Half-Day Sessions - Unpacking a Unit
- Student Mental Health Conference 9/7
- 6th - 8th Grade ELA - Meghan Hargrave 9/12 and NWEA MAP - 9/20
- Leadership - National Equity Project 9/12
- New K-2 Teachers TCRWP 9/18 - 20

Diversity Equity Inclusion & Belonging
We are fortunate to have an active District Equity Committee whose members support updating our DEI/B Action Plan each year. Please be sure to reference our Multicultural Holidays Calendar when planning due dates, test dates, and special classroom events.
The beginning of the school year is a great time to celebrate the unique identities students bring to our classrooms. My Name, My Identity: Creating an Inclusive and Respectful School and Community Educator Toolkit features activities that emphasize the importance of validating names, identities and establishing inclusive communities. Meet Meredith - WCSD Director of Special Education
Meredith Bullock, our new Director of Special Education, earned her Bachelor's degree from St. Mary’s College in Liberal Studies. She then obtained her teaching credential from Cal State Fresno and her administrative services credential from Brandman University. Meredith has spent her educational career in the San Ramon Valley Unified School District as an elementary teacher, Assistant Principal and Principal. Her school in SRVUSD housed a flow-through TK-5 moderate special education program, a TK inclusion program, and students receiving resource support.
Meredith lives in San Ramon with her husband and two sons. Her oldest son, Garrett, attends the University of Alabama…Roll Tide. Her other son, Dominic, is a junior at Cal High in San Ramon. Meredith is an avid reader and enjoys spending time with her family.
Meredith spent the month of July getting to know our programs and students' I.E.P. goals. She has met with all Special Education staff and is ready to lead the team in its continued growth & success. Meredith's mantra is, "All students with I.E.P.s are general education students first." Give her a warm welcome when you see her visiting your school site.
