Principal's Message
Dear Mountain Lion Families,
I am so excited to share some wonderful news about Maple Elementary! Our school has recently received two recognitions celebrating the hard work and achievement of our students. Maple was named a 2026 Honor Roll School by the Educational Results Partnership, recognizing high achievement and student success based on 2026 achievement data. We were also recognized by U.S. News & World Report as a Best Elementary School in California!
These honors are a reflection of the hard work of our amazing students, the dedication of our fabulous teachers and staff, and the support of our families. Every day, our team works to meet students where they are, challenge them, and help them grow academically and personally. I am incredibly proud of our Mountain Lions and grateful to everyone who contributes to their success. It is especially exciting to see our small school recognized for the big things happening here!
We also have a fun week ahead! Red Ribbon Week is next week, and students are invited to participate in our themed dress-up days throughout the week as we celebrate healthy choices and positive habits.
On Friday, October 30, we will celebrate with our Halloween Parade and Fall Carnival! Rain is in the forecast, but we are planning to move forward with our festivities. We may move activities indoors to the MPR if needed, and we will communicate any changes to families. We still need volunteers to help make the carnival a success! Please consider signing up through our Fall Carnival Volunteer Sign-Up.
A couple of important schedule reminders: Friday, October 30 is a minimum day with dismissal at 12:30 p.m. There will also be no school on Monday, November 2, as our teachers participate in professional development.
There is so much to celebrate at Maple, from the achievements of our students to the traditions that bring our community together. Thank you for being part of it all!
With Mountain Lion Pride,
Meghann O'Weger
Principal, Maple Elementary

Chromebook Protection
We recommend parents/guardians purchase $25 Chromebook device accidental damage protection from CVUSD. This fee provides coverage for common incidents such as cracked screens, missing keyboard keys, damaged casings and liquid spills. The plan also includes one device replacement per school year for loss, theft, or irreparable damage.
Without accidental damage protection, typical repair costs for things like a broken screen or keyboard can range from $100 - $200. For excessive damage or loss, Chromebooks have a replacement cost of $400 for the current model. Purchasing Accidental Damage Protection is optional, but highly recommended.
The enrollment window to purchase Accidental Damage Protection opens on August 1, 2026, and closes on November 30, 2026. Program fees are non-refundable, and coverage remains in effect through July 31, 2027.

Deputy Reyes is proud to serve as the School Resource Officer for the Conejo Valley Unified School District through the Ventura County Sheriff's Office Community Resource Unit. With 16 years of law enforcement experience, including the past two years as a School Resource Officer, Deputy Reyes previously served the community while patrolling Thousand Oaks.

Deputy Reyes is committed to fostering a safe, positive, and welcoming school environment where students can learn and thrive. Her primary goal is to build meaningful, lasting relationships with students, families, and school staff while supporting opportunities that encourage the success and well-being of every child.
E-Bike Safety Information
Please see the following communication from our School Resource Officer, Deputy Jaime Reyes, about E-Bike Safety:
As many of you are aware, the Sheriff's Office continues to address concerns related to youth e-bike usage. A key component of this effort is ensuring that parents are well-informed about appropriate purchasing decisions and safety considerations for their children. Attached is a photo of an illegal “E-moto” bike, these are not allowed to be on the streets. Several have been seen at CVUSD campuses. These bikes can be towed and impounded.
Recent reports and observations indicate an increase in traffic incidents and serious accidents involving e-bikes. In response, we are actively working to raise awareness about safe riding practices, as well as the applicable laws and basic requirements that young riders must follow. Our traffic enforcement team is fully engaged in these outreach efforts.
We kindly ask that you review the attached flyers and article linked below. With summer approaching, it is especially important that this guidance is widely shared. Thank you for your continued partnership in helping keep our school and community safe.
