Goals for the First Six Weeks
Create a Safe and Welcoming Environment: Establish a classroom climate where students feel comfortable and valued. Activities that promote trust and collaboration are essential during this time.
Set Clear Expectations: Clearly communicate academic and behavioral expectations. This includes discussing classroom rules and routines, which helps students understand what is expected of them.
Build Community: Engage students in activities that help them get to know each other and develop a sense of belonging. This can include icebreakers, team-building exercises, and collaborative projects.
Introduce Academic Routines: Teach essential academic routines that will support learning throughout the year, such as how to participate in discussions, work in groups, and manage time effectively.
