Eagle Update

Today marks the final day of Trimester 1 and the final school day of November! Our students, staff, and families have had a wonderful, and very busy, past few months, and I know the Thanksgiving week will provide well-deserved rest and relaxation for all.

As a friendly reminder, please remember that there should be no dogs on campus between the hours of 7:30 am and 3:30 pm daily. Beyond that, all dogs do need to be on leashes. If you have family members coming to campus to pick up your child after school, please share this information with them. Thank you for your help!

Tonight, we will be holding a Movie Night fundraiser for the Morad family. Admission to Cars will be free and concessions will be available for purchase using cash or Venmo. Please note: all children must be accompanied by an adult for the full event. Families are encouraged to bring blankets and/or low chairs for watching the movie. Doors will open at 5:30 and the movie will begin at 6:00.

When we return, we will have a Countdown to Winter Break Spirit Days to wrap up December. The calendar is listed below, and each student will have a copy of the calendar in their Friday folder this week.

Archer Glen is looking for three caring, committed individuals to join our school team as High Impact Tutors — no experience required! Two positions are available from 1:00–2:15 p.m., and one from 10:15 - 11:45 is also open. These positions are scheduled to begin in January 2026 and run through the 26-27 school year.

Tutors will receive comprehensive training and ongoing support from our instructional coach, Cathy Farrand, ensuring you feel confident and prepared to help our students succeed. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of Archer Glen students while being part of a supportive school community.

Today, the Sherwood Education Foundation (SEF) has officially launched its annual Clicking 4 Kids Campaign, which will run through Friday, December 5, 2025. SEF was established to enrich and enhance the quality of education in the Sherwood School District by distributing funds via teacher grants. As we enter the holiday season, we want to share a few local resources available to families who may need a little extra help with food at this time. Families in Sherwood can access free meals, groceries and pantry items through:

Willowbrook Food Pantry - 19200 SW Edy Rd, Sherwood

• Weekly food pantry: Tuesday 4-6pm / Saturday 9-11am

Sherwood YMCA Community Pantry – 23000 SW Pacific Hwy, Sherwood

• Weekly food pantry: Wednesdays 10am-12pm

Helping Hands Food Pantry – 15520 SW Willamette St, Sherwood

• Monthly food pantry: 3rd Saturday of the month 9-10am

• Backpack weekend meals program for students

Sherwood SHARE Center - 21920 SW Sherwood Blvd, Sherwood

• Information and referrals for food, clothing, counseling, medical, healthy child development, preschool and housing.

If you would like to support these community efforts, all organizations above welcome volunteers and donations throughout the year.

Sherwood School District Meal Program

All students who qualify for Oregon SNAP, FDPIR or Oregon TANF automatically receive free breakfast and lunch every school day through our district meal program. Foster children and children who meet the definition of homeless, runaway or migrant are eligible for no cost meals. Please email nutrition@sherwood.k12.or.us for more information.

Families can apply for the district meal program by completing an online application or by submitting a paper application at your student’s school. If you have any questions or need assistance, please reach out at nutrition@sherwood.k12.or.us. This institution is an equal opportunity provider.

The District will be welcoming volunteers back into our school buildings this year. All volunteers will need to complete and have an approved background check on file prior to volunteering (this must be renewed each school year). The background check process can take 7-10 business days, so please allow sufficient processing time if you are planning to volunteer for a specific event.

Our Archer Glen Parent Advisory Committee (PAC) is creating an updated email list for school information and other ways to support our school. If you are looking to volunteer at Archer Glen this year, please sign up using the link shared here. If you are new to Archer Glen you will need to create a new login. Past volunteers can use their old sign in. (Please note that this link does not work well on your phone so you will need to use another device).

ALL parents will need to fill out their information again as the system gets updated each fall. The registration will ask some questions about volunteer preferences, please still answer the questions and select all activities you might be interested in learning more about!
