Friendship & Kindness
Friendship and kindness go hand in hand. To be a great friend, we need to show empathy and kindness towards others. Friends like others who listen to their ideas, laugh at their jokes, cheer them up when they are feeling sad, and share a common interest. As we focus on friendship and kindness for the month of March, please talk with your student at home about the attributes of a good friend.

Special Things from Home
Recently we've had an uptake in special items coming from home to school. Students are bringing toys or money and then trading with friends or giving these items away. We've had several students with hurt feelings because they traded an item and then wanted it back. As a school, our policy is there is no trading, buying, or selling of items at school. Please talk with your student about leaving valuable things, including cash, at home. This will help us maintain our focus on learning. Thank you. for your help with this.

Health Room Happenings
Did you know that March is National Nutrition Month? While it's important for your student to have a healthy lunch packed with the nutrition they need to learn and be active, it is also important to make sure they eat it. To ensure their nutritious meal doesn't go to waste, you can encourage student’s interest with a few of these ideas:
Sit down occasionally and plan lunches together. Encourage student to help you with packing lunch or them to pack their own lunch. If kids have an interest in their lunch, they will be more likely to eat it. Let them watch you pack your lunch to set a good example.
Celebrate special days. Plan lunch menus around special events. For example, pack an all-green lunch in honor of St. Patrick's Day, make tacos for a random Tuesday or include dumplings and spring rolls to celebrate Chinese New Year.
Try new foods. Bring your children to the grocery store to pick out some new fruits, vegetables or snacks. This will encourage an interest in trying new foods and may be helpful for picky eaters.
Keep them excited about being hydrated. Pack a healthy drink.
Add some color with fruits and veggies for a nutrition-packed lunch. Try mixing fruits and vegetables together to include a balance of foods.
Make a switch from daily sandwiches. Try making sandwiches with mini pitas, English muffins or tortillas for a fun change. Also you can cut sandwiches into fun shapes or bite-sized pieces.
Invest in fun lunch containers. An insulated lunch bag in a fun print and insulated food container will enable your student to take a wider variety of foods for lunch, such as chilled pasta salad or warm soup.
Add a personal touch. Try adding a note or picture to their lunch as a reminder to have a great day or to give your student a laugh with a silly joke.
Counselor's Corner
Thank You, Families!
A big thank you to all the families who participated in our February Family Challenge and took the time to complete the activities together! We truly appreciate your engagement and the meaningful moments you’re creating at home.
Please note that the submission deadline is Monday. After all entries are collected, we will draw for a winner and announce their name in the April newsletter—stay tuned!
I'm excited to share that we’ll be hosting another family challenge in May. Keep an eye out for more information coming soon.
In addition, our harassment prevention lessons continue to be delivered across grade levels. These lessons focus on kindness, respect, and helping students learn how to be safe and supportive members of our school community.
As spring is just around the corner, this is a wonderful time to encourage children to enjoy the outdoors. Outdoor play supports elementary-aged students’ physical health, emotional regulation, creativity, and social skills—whether it’s a walk, playing at the park, riding bikes, or simply spending time outside together. Every chance you see the sun, go out and enjoy the fresh air!
Thank you for your continued partnership and support. We're grateful to work alongside such a caring school community!
