Greetings Clipper Nation!

There is a lot happening this week as many of our sports are continuing in play off action, our band and color guard will head to states, drama will be putting on their fall production and much much more. Please check out the full message and Facebook to stay up to date on all the JMB happenings.

Just a few reminders as we come to the end of the first term, which ends on November 7th.

Please encourage your student to stay focused on completing work to ensure quality grades at the end of the term. Anyone who plans to participate in a winter sport or RRR must have a 2.0 at the end of term.

If students miss 5 or more unexcused days, their grades will turn to E's until they earn them back through attendance recovery. Attendance recovery will take place after school through the Step Up program.

Any student staying planning to stay after school for clubs or tutoring Monday through Thursday need to sign up for step up.

Parents and guardians of seniors. To stay current, check out the Senior section in the newsletter specifically for Seniors.

PSATs

If your student participated in the PSAT on October 11th, scores will be available on November 6th. Students will be able to access scores through the following methods:

  1. If the student opted in to BigFuture School by providing a cell phone number, they can access scores through the mobile app.
  2. Access scores online through student College Board account.

Addresses

If you have moved, please submit documentation (copy of lease and utility bill) so we can update your addresses. We are getting a lot of returned mail.

Attendance Matters Attendance Matters

Absences

If a student has 5 or more unexcused absences they will need to make up those absences. If they do not make up those absences, their grades will be noted as E's on their report card.
Parents can write 5 notes to excuse a total of 5 days for the entire school year.

We have good news for seniors who are working on their college essays! Mrs. Taylor and Ms. Cahall are ready to review your college essays and provide feedback starting on Monday, October 2 – Sunday, December 31.

Here’s how it works:

You will need to email either Mrs. Taylor or Ms. Cahall (both are JMB English teachers) letting them know you would like them to review your essay. They will add you in on the assignment on Google Classroom where all communication about your essay will occur. At that point, you will upload your essay, the writing prompt or question that you are responding to along with any questions or comments about the essay you have sent.

Contact information for Participating JMB Teachers:

Ms. Jennifer Cahall: jcahall@wcboe.org

Of course, if there is another teacher you would like to review your essays you are welcome to contact them, but Mrs. Taylor and Ms. Cahall are the teachers that are part of this project. They are looking forward to reading your essays and supporting you through this process!
