Weekly Newsletter 4/3/26
Hello and happy Friday!
We are very impressed with the hard work and perseverance demonstrated this week by the 3rd, 4th and 5th graders on the VT CAP. Nearly all of them finished the three English Language Arts sessions during the week which required quite a bit of reading, answering comprehension questions and writing. This coming week, we'll be doing the math portion of the assessment over two days. There were many things to figure out this week for both students and staff in terms of the format of the test, logging in and navigating the test platform. We've all learned a lot and I'm confident next week will go nice and smoothly as well. Thank you to the parents for helping support from home by making sure students have a good night's sleep and are ready to go each morning.
As we get further into spring and teacher contracts get signed for another year, we are seeing some changes to our staffing. As many of you know, Lili Foster and Amy Pyfrom will be retiring. We celebrate their years of dedication to their profession and are working on ways to express our gratitude closer to June. Jenn Larocque has accepted the position as Academic Interventionist that Lili held, so she will be moving out of the classroom and into this important position supporting students' literacy and math learning. We will start the process of hiring a new 3rd grade teacher and I will work closely with other ACSD principals who are reviewing applications and interviewing candidates in some of the other elementary schools. We are also working with district leaders to hire a new special educator and I will keep families informed of how that is going as well.
Thank you for your continued involvement in the happenings at school and I look ahead to the next two months feeling grateful for the year we've had and hopeful for what's to come.
Have a great weekend,
Tracey

I have copies of the pictures, so if you would like one, please let me know. Here are a few more that might not have made the paper!

The IB PYP Exhibition: A journey of Inquiry!
We are thrilled to announce the start of the IB PYP Exhibition for our 5th grade students. This is a monumental milestone in our student’s elementary education—a "capstone" project that celebrates everything they have learned during their time in the Primary Years Program. Exhibition is a student-led, collaborative inquiry process. Students identify a real-world issue they are passionate about, conduct research, and take meaningful action to make a difference.
5th grade families will receive a longer email with more details, but our entire ACSD community can support our students: 1) If you know a student involved in Exhibition ask them what they are discovering and how it affects our world! 2) If you want to be a mentor or offer your real-world expertise for students whose topic relates to your work, contact your principal or Brandi Corbett, PYP Coordinator, bcorbett@acsdvt.org
