Our current attendance rate as of Friday, February 6 is 95.5%

Wilkerson wants ALL Wildcats to achieve. A large part of student success is related to student attendance. We want to teach our students all we can in the two years we have them at Wilkerson, so they are prepared for what lies ahead in junior high.

Please partner with us in your child's education by making attendance a priority. Students cannot learn if they are not present. When students are absent they miss important instruction which often causes stress on the student. In the event your child does miss school, please be sure to call the school or email our attendance office. Also, please remind your child to get with their teacher about any work they missed.

Student Discipline

In an effort to deter poor behavior choices, students who receive a serious level 3 or repeated level 2 disciplinary referrals during the spring semester are subject to being withheld from future school-wide incentive activities like field day, field trips, or any end of the year celebration. For more information please see our campus Levels of Misbehavior.

Human Growth and Development Instruction

Your student is scheduled to receive the required Human Growth and Development Instruction on Thursday, March 5, 2026. State law requires the district to obtain your written consent before your student can receive this instruction. In addition to the digital version of the Parental Consent Form, physical permission slips were sent home this week. If we do not receive your signed consent (either electronically or physical) by Tuesday, March 3, 2026, your student will not be permitted to participate in this instruction and will be assigned alternative instructional activities within their LC.

We encourage all parents/guardians to preview all materials provided within the permission slip. This will provide valuable information regarding curriculum content, timing of videos and the grievance process.

This presentation will be shown by the school nurse, PE coaches, Administrators and Counselors, and conducted separately for boys and girls. Staff members will not permit questions during this presentation. Any students having questions will be reminded to talk to parents/guardians.

Do not hesitate to the school nurse if you have any questions.

Please review and complete the consent form below by Tuesday, March 3, 2026. Not returning the signed permission form or checking the "DO NOT" box checked indicates an OPT OUT.

MAP Growth Assessment Family Reports have been uploaded to the Conroe ISD Home Access Center (HAC). The MAP Growth Family Report summarizes how your student is performing academically, as measured by the most recent MAP Growth test taken. To access the MAP Growth Family Report in HAC, navigate to the District Applications tab and click on "MAP Testing Reports". To learn more about the MAP Growth test, you can view the What is MAP Growth Video for Families (English) or Qué es MAP Growth-Video for families (Spanish). Additional information about MAP Growth can be found by visiting NWEA.org/familytoolkit.

For our Spanish speaking families there is a MAP Growth Report sample report in Spanish for reference purposes.

Upcoming STAAR Practice

Over the next two weeks, we will be administering some of the released STAAR tests to all students in order to practice our testing environment for later in the year. These are not taken for a grade, but they are used to gather data for teachers to analyze and alter instruction. We will create a secure testing environment like STAAR, and the grade level testing each day will shut down to test in the morning. The grade level not testing will continue with their regular schedule. We will be a closed campus those days, so parents will not be allowed to eat lunch with students.

February 5th - 5th Math

February 11th - 6th ELA

Assessment Explanation

MAP tests are adaptive assessments that indicate a student's strengths and areas for improvement in the content tested. The ELA MAP test takes place of the BAS assessments. The MAP tests will provide individual student information that will allow teachers to tailor instruction to meet the academic needs of the student.

Quarterly Assessments (QAs) :These assessments are given within the last two weeks of the grading period and contain only previously taught content as defined by the district curriculum maps. They are provided by the district before the beginning of the quarter so that teachers can plan instruction, and are designed to be completed in a single 50-minute class period.

Common Assessments (CA) are assessments that measure the student's understanding of the content (TEKS) taught in class. Teachers are able to take the data from the assessments and determine where students are successful and where they have misconceptions. Teachers will use this data to guide instruction going forward.

Library Notifications

Conroe ISD Library Services has enabled checkout notifications, so you know the title of the books your student checked out. These notifications will be sent on days when your student checks out a book from the school library and will only be sent for the initial checkout. Daily notifications will no longer occur for the entire time a book is checked out to a student. State law and board policy do not allow an opt-out option for these notifications. If you have a question or concern about your student’s reading material, please contact your campus librarian.

The Destiny Library Catalog has been updated with the following message as per Local Policy EFB.

Library materials may include objectionable materials. If you would like to restrict access to specific library materials, please complete the Library Access Form.
