SPHS Update
March 31st, 2024
SPHS Community,
A quick update this week to share news that the Forecaster has named the Red Riot Winter athletes of the year in this great article.
Senior Tobey Lappin who was a leader for the Boys Hockey Co-Op team was selected as was Emma Travis for her leadership on the Girls Basketball team.
Tobey's coach said, "Tobey is the heart of the team. Not only is he the leader on the ice through his talent and composure, but he’s a great leader off the ice, in the locker room and in the community. He’s a true gentleman with solid core values. He’s a role model to the younger middle school and elementary school players, which is huge for the program. He’s part of getting them excited about growing and playing for us in the future. He will truly be missed.”
Emma's coach said, "Emma was the heart and soul of our team. We were a young team this year and one of the reasons we had such success is because of Emma’s leadership. She was the backbone of our defense and our best communicator. She defended the other team’s best players and did a tremendous job on some of the league’s best players. She came into her own offensively this year and her confidence began to show on that end of the court. She could score from the perimeter and attack the rim. She ran the floor extremely well and often scored in transition.”
Congratulations Emma and Tobey!
Two other sports highlight are that the Forecaster also named Indoor Track Coach Dave Kahill as the Southern Edition Boys Coach of the year and our Girls Basketball Coach Lynne Hasson as the Southern Edition Girls Coach of the Year.
Congratulations Coaches Kahill and Hasson!
Thank you to the MELMAC foundation for supporting our 11th grade college visits. This is a fantastic opportunity for our 11th graders to visit some of the many fantastic post-secondary options we have in the area.
Next, the Career Fair is happening during 2nd Block on Wednesday. 10-12th graders are welcome to come down with their classes.
Finally, the Vision Team at SPHS is a group of educators who are thinking about what the student experience at SPHS could and and should be as we move into the future. We would like to extend an invitation to provide feedback about what the community values and how we might make the experience even better for students and community. The feedback is completely anonymous and it will help us continue the positive progress that SPHS has made. If you can spare a few minutes, we'd love to hear what you think by clicking the appropriate link below to fill out a brief survey.
Peace,
Scott Tombleson (He/Him/His - What is this?)

Vision Input and Aspirations
This survey has been created to get Parent's and Guardian's input on what is offered here at the High School. Looking to the future, or looking back at your student's time in high school, what are some things you wish could be part your student's high school experience?

2024 Assistant Principals Week
National Assistant Principals Week is right around the corner!
Whether they’re creating educational leadership opportunities for teachers, coordinating with families, or encouraging student growth—assistant principals provide a foundation of support for their principals and their schools. AP Week is the time to celebrate the work they do. We have two of the best at SPHS. Mr. Brenner and Mrs. Glenn are simply fantastic.
We’ve put together some AP Week resources to help you celebrate your assistant, associate, or vice principal this April 1–5:
