Mr. Cullen's Weekly Update
Keeping Our District Connected and Committed to Excellence

Week of October 26, 2026 - October 30, 2026
Elevate Every Learner
MTPS Community,
As we bring another productive week to a close, I am continually inspired by the remarkable efforts taking place throughout our district, and, most importantly, by the development, accomplishments, and limitless potential of our students. Every day, our schools serve as places where curiosity is encouraged, possibilities are explored, and students are empowered to discover just how much they can achieve. At the heart of this commitment is our collective vision to Elevate Every Learner and to ensure that every student is challenged, supported, and motivated to reach their fullest potential.
An essential part of this commitment is recognizing and celebrating student success in all its forms. Whether through academic accomplishments, artistic expression, athletic pursuits, leadership, or personal milestones, every achievement should be acknowledged. Equally important is creating an environment in which students are continually encouraged to stretch beyond what they already know, embrace new challenges, and recognize that meaningful progress comes through perseverance, reflection, and a willingness to learn from setbacks. By fostering a growth mindset, we help students understand that their abilities are not fixed, that grit matters, and that there is always another opportunity to improve, move forward, and excel.
While recognizing how far our students have come, we must remain just as committed to encouraging them to consider what is possible next. Our responsibility as educators, families, and community members is to instill a belief in their own capabilities, while providing the guidance, encouragement, and meaningful learning opportunities necessary to turn aspirations into accomplishments. It is through this shared dedication that we cultivate confident, resilient, and well-rounded learners who are prepared to pursue their goals and make meaningful contributions to the world around them.
As we look ahead, please be reminded that schools will be closed from Monday, November 2nd, through Friday, November 6th. With Halloween upon us, I hope everyone takes the opportunity to enjoy the festivities, create wonderful memories with family and friends, and embrace the excitement of the season. Most importantly, please make safety the priority. A little extra care and awareness can go a long way in ensuring that everyone enjoys a fun, memorable, and safe Halloween.
The days ahead also present a valuable opportunity for students to enjoy reading beyond the classroom and further develop an appreciation for the many possibilities that literacy provides. Whether exploring a new book, revisiting a favorite story, or simply making time for independent reading, these moments help reinforce the importance of literacy not only to immediate academic success but also to long-term learning, personal development, and future opportunities.
This time away from our daily routines also provides a chance to reflect on the tremendous accomplishments across our district and to appreciate the many individuals whose passion contributes to making our schools such special places.
Thank you for your continued partnership, enthusiasm, and unwavering support of Middletown Township Public Schools. Together, let us continue to recognize accomplishments, embrace new possibilities, encourage perseverance, and inspire every student to uphold excellence. Our shared purpose remains clear: to Elevate Every Learner and empower each student to realize their limitless potential.
Wishing everyone a wonderful Halloween and a safe, enjoyable week ahead!
Sincerely,
Kevin G. Cullen
