Brief Message from the Principal
Hello Mustang Families,
At Marshall Leadership Academy, we know that true leaders don’t just look out for themselves—they find ways for everyone to succeed. That’s why we’re excited to focus on Habit 4: Think Win-Win from the 7 Habits of Happy Kids.
Remember, Habit 1: Be Proactive reminds us that we are in charge of our own choices and actions. Habit 2: Begin with the End in Mind teaches us to set goals and think about what we want to accomplish before we start. Habit 3: Put First Things First shows us how to prioritize what matters most and stay focused on what’s important.
Now we are adding Habit 4: Think Win-Win, which is all about finding solutions that make everyone feel good about the outcome. Instead of competing or trying to get ahead at someone else’s expense, Habit 4 teaches students to work together, share, and look for ways where everyone wins.
Habit 4 helps children learn that life is not just about “me”—it’s about we. It teaches them to value fairness, cooperation, and teamwork while building positive relationships with others.
Throughout the school year, our Mustangs will practice Habit 4 by:
-
Looking for fair solutions when there’s a disagreement
-
Sharing and taking turns with friends and classmates
-
Working with teammates so that everyone has a role and feels included
-
Celebrating the success of others instead of feeling left out
Teachers will recognize students who demonstrate Habit 4 during our weekly celebrations. By practicing this habit, students develop kindness, empathy, and problem-solving skills—qualities that will help them in school and in life.
Families can reinforce Habit 4 at home by:
-
Encouraging children to solve conflicts by talking and listening to each other
-
Modeling fairness by making family decisions where everyone has input
-
Praising children when they show kindness, cooperation, or teamwork
-
Reminding them that helping others succeed makes everyone stronger
At Marshall, we’re helping our Mustangs learn that leadership means lifting others up—not just ourselves. When we Think Win-Win, we discover that the best victories are the ones we share.
From Our AP
Dear Mustang Families,
We’ve had another wonderful week at Marshall Leadership Academy, full of joy, learning, and leadership! It’s always inspiring to see our students grow academically and socially and none of it would be possible without the support of our amazing teachers, staff, and YOU, our families.
Our 4th grade students participated in their very first Academy 4 Day! They were paired with incredible mentors who will visit once a month to build leadership, confidence, and character through intentional conversations and activities.
Kindergarten celebrated Apple Day and what a fun and memorable experience it was! From singing and dancing to making apple hats, learning the parts of an apple, and even trying a slice of delicious apple pie (yes, I got one too!), our Kinder team turned this into a day full of hands-on learning and joy.
Students across 3-5 had a blast checking out our PBIS School Store this week! They used Mustang Bucks earned through positive behavior to shop what a great way to celebrate their leadership!
Our 2nd grade students took a trip to the planetarium and were in awe as they explored the wonders of space.
A big shoutout to Ms. Garcia’s Pre-K class for achieving 100% PTA membership! They celebrated with a pizza party! Who will be next?
Over the past few weeks, I’ve had the absolute pleasure of getting back into the groove of visiting classrooms and seeing our amazing students and staff in action. From playing Crab Soccer in P.E. with Coach Hale to getting a little creative in Art, yes, my own sunset and swamp painting is drying as we speak! These moments remind me of the power of connection. Sometimes, as an administrator, the day can feel nonstop. But being with students, listening to their thoughts, and reminding them that it’s not about being perfect, it’s about trying your best, that’s what matters most. If you’re walking the halls, keep an eye out you might spot my artwork proudly posted on campus!
Parent Communication is Key: We want to stay connected with you! Please take a moment to ensure your contact information is correct in Skyward. Nevertheless, I always leave a voicmail. 🙂
Hispanic Heritage Month Begins! From September 15 to October 15, we honor the cultures, contributions, and rich history of Hispanic and Latino Americans. With 68% of our student body identifying as Hispanic, this celebration is especially meaningful at Marshall. We look forward to honoring Hispanic Heritage Month with activities, stories, and opportunities for students to celebrate their heritage and learn about others.

From Our Instructional Coach
Hello again parents,
As your iCoach, I encourage you to take advantage of the fall season to make learning at home engaging and meaningful. Fall offers so many hands-on learning opportunities—go on a nature walk to collect leaves and talk about the changing seasons, or use pumpkins and apples for fun math and science activities like measuring, counting seeds, or observing changes over time. Reading fall-themed books together and writing stories or poems about autumn can boost literacy skills while celebrating the season. Most importantly, enjoy this cozy time of year together—learning happens everywhere, especially when it feels connected to real life and family.
Sincerely,
Your instructional coach
