Summer Update Message
Dear AGS Families,
I hope you are all having a safe, relaxing, and enjoyable summer break, and that you all had a wonderful Fourth of July! As we coast through these sunny months, I wanted to reach out with some exciting updates as we look forward to the upcoming school year. We can't wait to welcome our students back in August with renewed energy and enthusiasm.
First, I am thrilled to introduce our new Principal, Mr. Ben Malecki. Please take a moment to read his official welcome statement below to learn more about him and his vision for our school community.
Our dedicated team is already hard at work preparing for the 2026–2027 school year, and our campus is getting some incredible updates to enhance our students' daily learning experience. Over the summer, we are installing brand-new classroom furniture explicitly designed to support mixed-modality learning and flexible seating, giving our learners the versatility they need to thrive. Additionally, we are laying new carpet throughout all of our hallways and implementing major tech upgrades to both our classrooms and teacher-stations.
Please see the schedule pickup information below for all the details regarding this year's process. We truly appreciate your flexibility, patience, and understanding as we modernize our learning spaces.
Please keep an eye on your inbox for upcoming newsletters, which will contain more detailed information as August approaches.
Wishing you and your family a wonderful and restful remainder of the summer. We can’t wait to see all of our students' smiling faces very soon!
Warm regards,
Zachary Bradley

Meet Mr. Ben Malecki - AGS Building Principal
Greetings AGS Families,
July is incredible in Michigan. I hope you're spending time doing things that bring you excitement, joy, and meaningful connections with the people you love.
My July is filled with moments like those, and it's also an exciting time for my family and me because I'm thrilled to join the Fenton Community as the next principal at Andrew G Schmidt Middle School! It is a great honor to step into the principal role at AGS. I've already had some incredible experiences meeting many of the people who work so hard for the school. It is clear to me that AGS is a very special place, and that there are some seriously talented, compassionate people who make it this way. I am proud of the work that we're doing already to prepare for this upcoming school year.
I am eager to begin working with you, too. The AGS Schedule Pick Up Information below will mark some of our earliest moments together. Beyond that, we'll find creative opportunities to connect and strengthen our community.
I feel so welcomed and want to share a little more about myself. I live in Hartland with my wife, our two children, and our two dogs. They are my most important team and are excited to support my move to AGS! Our son is beginning ninth grade and our daughter is beginning sixth grade this coming school year. We love spending time in the Upper Peninsula on Drummond Island and are loving the World Cup this summer. Professionally, I just finished my fourth year as the Principal at Hutchings Elementary School in Howell after one year as the Assistant Principal at Milan Middle School. Prior to that, I taught in Brighton Area Schools and Huron Valley Schools teaching English and Social Studies at middle and high schools.
As our summer breaks continue, please don't hesitate to email me should the need arise. My address is bmalecki@fentonschools.org and I'll be sure to respond between my own summer adventures.
It is a great honor to be the principal at a building as special as Andrew G Schmidt Middle School. I'm excited for the opportunity, but more excited for the great things we'll do together over the coming years.
Thank you!
Ben Malecki
