Cleveland Elementary

December was a Magical month at Cleveland! Who doesn’t love spirit day? We had a different spirit day for each day of the month 14 days in a row! The kids and staff really went all out!

We put together our 2nd ever Holiday Shop! The PTA turned the room into an amazing holiday getaway and seeing the kids faces was truly amazing! We had a great outcome with parents and grandparents volunteering during different class times. Some of the 4th graders also came along to help the kindergarten classes. It was so successful, we needed to go out for a second big shopping trip to stock the store! Everything was at the same price point, making it easy for the parents to send money and kids shopping was not confusing. We had gifts for everyone!

Friday night skating party was a big hit for all the families.

While the kids were off school on December 16th, we put together a Hot Cocoa Bar for the staff to enjoy during meetings!

We ended the month with Candy Grams! The PTA made sure all the students received one! Each Candy Cane Gram was $0.50.

Coolidge Elementary

Happy New Year's Greetings from the Coolidge PTA!

We have had a great end to 2024. We had a very successful holiday shop which the students really enjoyed. It was wonderful watching the kids pick out all the special gifts for each person on their list (and of course something for themselves!) The kindergartners and first graders put on a holiday concert for all the students. It was led by our fabulous music teacher, Mr. Skebo, and the students enjoyed getting into the holiday spirit. Families also had the opportunity to participate in the schools toy drive for LEARN which collected diverse toys for local families and a mitten drive for families in Detroit.

Our students continue to put in the effort at recess on our school-wide Youth Making a Difference initiative of blanket making for the hospital. Our students are led by a fantastic team of volunteers who are all making a difference in our community! We are so proud!

We are looking forward to hosting a movie night on January 10th for our students. We had a great turnout at our Buddy’s Pizza fundraiser and are looking forward to our Pita Way fundraiser on January 14th. Please check our website for more information and the flyer to support our PTA! Our spirit stick sales are still going strong and it’s fun to see all the spirit on student backpacks!

We are sad to see our principal, Mrs. Collyer, go onto her next adventure at Wayne-RESA but are so thankful for her support of the PTA for many years. We look forward to welcoming our new interim principal to Coolidge for the start of 2025.

Emerson Middle School

The PTSA had a Sweet for Staff exchange and the student PTSA had Cookies and Cocoa and made cards to be passed out at a local senior center. The staff members, who are also PTSA members, received a Emerson ornament to start off their break.

Frost Middle School

The Frost PTSA partnered with administration to provide a meal for staff on November 7 between conferences. With only an hour between sessions, the meal was greatly appreciated. The smiles tell it all!

The Frost December PBIS Drawing was awarded before the students went on break. Students enter the drawing with Falcon Dollars which are earned by Being Safe, Responsible, Respectful and Making Good Choices. The award included a warm blanket, hot chocolate and candy of their choice. The Frost PTSA helps fund these prizes and items for the school store throughout the year.

Grant Elementary

December at Grant Elementary was a month filled with joy and excitement!

One of the most anticipated events of the month was our Secret Santa Shop. For the second year

in a row, our Gators had the opportunity to shop for holiday gifts for their family and friends.

We’re thrilled to say that this year’s shop was even better than last year thanks to the incredible

support from our volunteers and staff. A HUGE thank you goes out to everyone who helped

make this event a success! From setup to helping the students pick out the perfect presents, we

couldn’t have done it without them.

The fun didn’t stop there! Our Gators were also excited to participate in Holiday Bingo. This

event was a hit with a great turnout and lots of festive spirit. What made it even better was that

everyone walked away a winner! A big thank you to Mrs. Mazzoni for being an amazing MC.

To wrap up a month of fun, we held our annual Holiday Sing-Along. Mrs. Moore worked hard to

plan a festive concert that showcased the talents of all our students. But that’s not all – we had a

special guest join us for the celebration: none other than the Grinch himself! It was a fantastic

way to bring everyone together and spread some holiday cheer.

Grant Gators are looking forward to a fantastic 2025!

Kennedy Elementary

Kennedy Elementary had a fun-filled December!

The month kicked off with a fun Grinch/Holiday theme skate night at Riverside. A lot of families attended and fun was had for not only the students, but the parents, too!

The PTA also funded an informative school wide assembly by the one and only Paleo Joe. The students loved learning all about fossils and dinosaurs together.

A few of our Kennedy Stars and their families enjoyed participating in “Engineering Night” hosted by the Livonia PTSA Council at Churchill on Thursday, 12/12. This is always a fun event we are grateful to have the opportunity to join.

Our PTA hosted a staff luncheon the week prior to break as a thank you to our wonderful staff for all they do. The tables were decorated with fun festive decor, and each staff member was given a special gift as an additional thank you. Our wonderful parents donated various gift cards to make sure every staff member felt extra loved.

Kennedy’s beloved friend, Buddy the Elf, returned this year and delivered books to all students. It was a special day at Kennedy and the students were all so excited for this much anticipated special visitor.

Our PTA also hosted our final dine-out of the year at Buddy’s Pizza. It took place on 12/16 and many families took advantage of grabbing some yummy pizza together while enjoying the day off together.

Overall, it was a great December over at Kennedy Elementary.
