Dear Lobo Nation,
There is so much to celebrate across Levelland ISD! I encourage you to take a few moments to explore this edition of our Expect Excellence Newsletter and see the incredible things happening in our schools.
From outstanding academic efforts to students competing and performing at high levels, our kids continue to represent our community with pride. Shout out to our softball and baseball teams for earning playoff appearances—what an exciting accomplishment for our Lobos and Loboettes.
Also, we are so proud of the impact of strong programs in CTE, fine arts, and student organizations, all working together to prepare our students for success beyond graduation.
Thank you for your continued support of our students, staff, and schools. We have a lot to be proud of!
Blessed to be a Lobo,

Lunch Hero Day
We celebrated National School Lunch Hero Day last week! Behind every tray served is a caring heart making sure our students are fueled, nourished, and ready to learn. From early mornings to busy lunch lines, they serve meals, kindness, smiles, and comfort every single day. Thank you for the important role you play in our schools. We appreciate you today and every day!
BBQ Team Competes at State
Our LHS BBQ Team took on the heat at the HSBBQ State Competition this past weekend, competing against 98 teams alongside their teacher, Mrs. Khris Oaks! Brody Moore, Taylor Howard, Neylea Suedeo, Tyler Mansell, and Aden Zamora put their talent and skills to the test by preparing and submitting dessert, brisket, beans, ribs, and half a chicken. Mrs. Oaks said, "Even with the challenge of high humidity and keeping those barrel temperatures steady, they cooked with determination and grit. Their hard work paid off with an impressive 20th place finish in the ribs category at the state level!" We are so proud of this team for representing LHS with excellence, perseverance, and true West Texas BBQ spirit. We are excited too that these students have found a niche and can see a future career after high school!
Choir Honors Banquet
Congratulations to our LHS Choir Director Joshua Ballard, who hosted the annual End of Year Choir Banquet last night to honor many of his students for a great year! Congratulations to all the students who earned special honors!

Entrepreneurs @ Work!
Our LHS Entrepreneurship students have been hard at work, and their creativity, innovation, and hustle are on full display in Mr. Hill’s class as they bring their own food truck businesses to life. This hands-on project challenged students to think like real entrepreneurs from the start. Each student began by creating a unique food truck concept—from gourmet grilled cheese to bold international street food. They then moved into branding, designing eye-catching logos that reflect their truck’s identity and target audience. But it didn’t stop with a great idea. Students developed full menus, carefully considering pricing, food costs, and customer appeal. They also sketched detailed floor plans, thinking through efficiency just like real food truck owners. Marketing played a key role as students created strategies to attract customers, build excitement, and stand out in a competitive market. To bring everything together, each student completed a full business plan outlining their vision, goals, and financial strategy. And the best part? They built physical models of their food trucks using shoeboxes and brought their ideas to life in a fun, creative, and visual way! The project culminates in a final presentation where students pitched their food truck businesses to the class. With enthusiasm and professionalism, they shared their concepts, designs, and plans, just like entrepreneurs seeking investors. To celebrate their hard work, awards are given for Best Design and Best Business Plan, recognizing students who truly go above and beyond. This project is more than just an assignment. It’s an experience that builds real-world skills in creativity, problem-solving, communication, and business thinking. Mr. Hill’s classroom is buzzing with energy, ideas, and the entrepreneurial spirit, proving that the next generation of business leaders is already hard at work! Great job kids!
Cheer Honors Banquet!
LHS celebrated an incredible group of athletes tonight at the Cheer Honors Banquet! Our girls were recognized for their hard work, determination, spirit, friendship, and academic excellence. Each award represents the dedication these young women have poured into their team, their school, and each other all year long. From the sidelines to the classroom, they continue to lead with heart, support one another, and represent LHS with pride. Congratulations to all of our cheerleaders on a well-deserved night of recognition! https://files.smartsites.parentsquare.com/8584/cheerbanquet26.mp4
Pig the Pug
Our ABC Littles have had the best learning experience in the ABC Library with Librarian Mrs. Abi Swain! They’ve been enjoying all the hilarious Pig the Pug books by Aaron Blabey. The Pig the Pug series follows Pig, a greedy little pug with a big personality and an even bigger love for things that don’t belong to him! Throughout the story series, Pig learns some tough and funny lessons about sharing, honesty, kindness, and friendship, and usually the hard way. With silly rhymes, bold illustrations, and laugh-out-loud moments, these books quickly became favorites for our Littles while also reinforcing important character traits. To wrap up their reading adventure, our ABC Littles put their thinking to work by voting for their favorite Pig the Pug book! Students reviewed the stories, made their choices, and cast their votes! Thank you Mrs. Swain for teaching firsthand about the democratic process and helping students understand how their voice matters.

LMS Drones!
Levelland Middle School drone teams participated in the 5th Annual AirBattles Drone Competition last week. This year’s theme, “Air Raid,” challenged teams to collaborate and complete as many tasks as possible before time expired. The first round lasted three minutes, followed by a second round of two minutes. Students navigated a series of obstacles, including takeoff and landing in designated target zones, maneuvering through vertical pylons, weaving through a vertical hoop challenge, and flying precisely through speed gates. While our teams did not place in the top three, the experience provided valuable learning opportunities. Students strengthened their teamwork and communication skills while gaining a deeper understanding of the challenges involved in drone flight. We are so proud of this program and all that students learn from the challenges put in front of them.

YELL Speaks @ Noon Rotary
We send out a huge thank you to the Noon Rotary for welcoming our YELL Officers and for their generous purchase of 100 ducks for the YELL DuckPluck on May 14! These kids will be our leaders around town before we can blink an eye! We are so grateful for community partners like you, Noon Rotary, who show up, give back, and invest in our students year after year.

The South Career Day was a huge success! We are so thankful for the community members who took time out of their day to invest in South students. Because of you, our students were able to make real-world connections, ask great questions, and start thinking about their future in meaningful ways. South sends a huge thank you to Xcel Energy, Levelland Post Office, Eyes on the Square, HES Professionals, South Plains Implement, Levelland Fire Department, Levelland Police Department, The Wildlife Art Studio, TxDot, Jackson Real Estate, Hockley County Credit Union, and Coach Boone from SPC for taking the time to invest in South students. Opportunities like this truly make learning come to life, and South is so grateful for the support that helps make South a great place to be!
