Parent Valet Pick Up
Please read in full!
Staff Valet Goals & Purposes
- Prioritize student safety
- Support the parking challenges for families during construction with a pre-planned solution
- Complete student to car Valet dismissal in a total of 15 minutes. (This may take a few days of practice, bear with us.)
- SAFETY IS OUR TOP PRIORITY
Parent Directions for K-5
- Stay in your vehicle
- Place your license plate on your driver’s side dash (Mrs. Thatcher will be entering names into the loop) This won't be a time for updates.
- Enter the lot at the E on the map
- Staff will call your student to the pick up line
- Students will have a staggered dismissal to the pick up line
- Each group of students will load into vehicles (1-2 minutes per group)
- Students should enter on the passenger side with all their gear - please don’t stop to load backpacks in trunks. (Parent still stay in cars at this step)
- Staff will lower the stop sign and all loaded vehicles in your group will exit at once. Do not try to exit until the whole group is ready.
- * Please do not pull out to pass the car in front of you. If you need to come into the school, please do not join the line and find a spot in the neighborhoods near by.
- * In the event your student is late and holds up the line, we may ask that you exit and re-enter the loop to keep traffic flowing
- *No early check outs (ex: appointments) will be granted after 2:45
- THE PARENT LOOP IS NOT OPEN UNTIL 2:45 (and at 2:00 on Monday early release)- NO EARLY ARRIVALS PLEASE
Things look different for Kindersprouts!
KinderSprout families - please pick up at the designated Sprout pick up on the corner of Choteau & Silverette. (Pink curve on the map and will be marked with a banner)
Kindersprout pick up is 2:00-2:15 on Mondays & 2:45-3:00.
Sprout families will not use the Valet System. Sprout families with older siblings are asked to park or join the parent loop after your Sprout is picked up.
Do's
- Stay in your vehicle at all times
- Keep your license plate somewhere in your car
- Wait for stop signs & staff cues
- Plan ahead for appointments - appointments should be scheduled outside of the instructional day as much as possible - every minute counts!
- Encourage your child to follow staff directed pick up procedures. The quicker we can all get this routine down, the better it will be for all.
Dont's
- Don't park or drop and go on Granite - NO TRAFFIC on Granite at all please NEW THIS YEAR.
- Don't park on Choteau to walk into the building. I am anticipating a lot of traffic on Choteau.
License Plates
Please bring this license plate with you each time you pick up your student. You can place it on your dash or simply flash it when a staff member comes by your car. We use these to ensure we’re calling your student to the pick up line as quickly and safely as possible!
Siblings will receive one plate - this will go home with the oldest sibling in your house.
All license plates will be handed out for open house regardless of a student's plan for home (bus, walk, car)
Frequently Asked Questions
- What if someone on my approved pick up list is picking up my child for me?
No problem - share your extra license plate with them ahead of time, or have them write your student's last name on a piece of paper.
- What if my child is going on a playdate?
We love carpooling! It shrinks the Valet line. If this is an every day carpool, send Mrs. Thatcher an email, she will walk you through it. If it is a one day only, please call Mrs. Terry before lunch time.
- What if I am too afraid to try the parent loop?
Please find a parking spot in the neighborhood nearby. Avoid Granite, Choteau, Silverette, and Knight. Remember - this is supposed to make things easier for you and keep kids safe. Take a chance on us!
- What happens on indoor dismissal days due to weather?
Hopefully we have nailed the parent loop & it will be business as usual by then.
- If my middle school student rides the bus to Kessler to meet their sibling, what do they do?
Tell your student to wait at the bench outside of Mrs. Thatcher's office by entry 1.
