Raptor ReportThe latest news and updates from Riverview PK-8

From the Desk of Dr. D.

Dear Riverview Families,

What an event-packed first week! From Back to School Night and transition days for our kindergarteners and 6th graders, to welcoming all students back yesterday and wrapping up with today's early release, it has been a whirlwind. Best of all, the energy and excitement from our students and staff made it a fantastic start to the school year.

Support Our PTCO & Save the Date for the Raptor Run!

Our Parent Teacher Community Organization (PTCO) plays a vital role in making Riverview a vibrant place for our students, and we would love for you to be a part of it!

  • Consider Joining the PTCO: Partner with us to help plan school events, support our amazing staff, and strengthen our Riverview community. The first PTCO meeting this year will be on Monday, August 24th, from 4:00-5:00pm.

  • Save the Date — Raptor Run (September 25th): Get ready for our annual Raptor Run on Friday, September 25th! It is one of our favorite traditions of the year and a wonderful way to support our school.

Campus Traffic & Parking Guidelines

To keep our students safe and ensure pick-up and drop-off run smoothly, please review these key traffic reminders:

  • Follow Staff Directions: All visitors to Riverview have to follow staff's directions for moving about campus. This is for everyone's safety.

  • Northwest Parking Lot: The NW parking lot is reserved for staff members only. We offer rare exceptions, so please reach out to our front office if you'd like to be considered for an exception.

  • Park in Official Spots Only: Park exclusively in marked campus spaces. Parking along curbs, unmarked lanes, or non-designated areas is strictly prohibited.

  • Respect Accessible Parking: Disabled parking spaces are reserved solely for vehicles displaying a valid permit or placard.

  • Keep the Bus Loop Clear: Double-parking in the bus loop creates a safety issue and delays bus routes. Do not enter the bus lane with your vehicle and do not double-park or leave your vehicle unattended in this lane.

  • Follow Traffic Flow: Pay close attention to staff guidance as we maintain a steady, safe traffic pattern.

For a detailed map of our drop-off routes and traffic flow, please visit the Riverview's website for more information.

Thank you for being a part of Riverview’s community, and this will be our best year yet!

Sincerely,

John Dumbleton

Principal–Riverview PK-8

From Our School Nurse From Our School Nurse

Now that school is back in, it is a good time to remind parents to be on the alert for head lice. Head lice is a common childhood condition. All places where children get together are places where head lice can be transferred. Clean hair and home are no guarantee that head lice will not find your child. Please take a moment now and periodically throughout the year, to check your child’s hair for nits (eggs), which can usually be seen long before lice can be located. Nits are small, white to tan particles found in the hair that look a lot like dandruff, except that dandruff is loose and can be brushed from the hair, whereas nits are attached to the hair shaft and cannot be easily removed. Lice are very small (flea sized) and do not like light, so they can be hard to find. If your child is experiencing itching of the scalp or you see something in the hair and are not sure what it is, feel free to stop by the health office and allow us to check. Here are some great resources for informational fliers.

Sincerely,

Health office staff

Vision and Hearing Screening Volunteers

We are looking for volunteers to help with vision and hearing screenings on September 3rd and 4th. September 3rd, we need at least two volunteers. September 4th, we need at least 6 volunteers. If you are interested in volunteering, please reach out to Tavon Mayweather.
