From our Executive Director
Before Care Interest Survey for 2027
Dear Centennial Academy Families,
The Arthur M. Blank Family Youth YMCA is exploring the possibility of offering Before Care beginning in 2027, and we would love to hear from you!
Before making any decisions, we want to better understand the needs of our families and determine how many families may be interested in this service.
Please take a few minutes to complete the short survey below and share your interest in Before Care.

Please note that completing the survey does not guarantee enrollment or confirm that the program will be offered. Your feedback will help us determine the need and next steps for a potential 2027 Before Care program.
Thank you for your feedback and continued partnership!
Scholar International Travel
Centennial families, we are excited to share an incredible opportunity for our scholars to learn beyond the classroom and experience the world through study abroad!

Whether you're ready to start planning or simply curious about the opportunity, we encourage you to join us, learn more, and ask questions.
See the flyer for Zoom meeting details and information on how to sign up.
We can't wait to share more about this exciting opportunity to take learning beyond Centennial—and into the world! 🌍✈️

Parent Volunteerism
Dear Centennial Academy Families,
Thank you for your interest in becoming a volunteer at Centennial Academy! We would like to provide an important update regarding the current APS policy for volunteers. All parents and guardians who wish to volunteer, chaperone field trips, assist with school events, eat with their scholars, or otherwise be inside the building and around scholars must complete the APS security clearance process.
The security clearance must be completed in person at the APS CLL Building, located at:
130 Trinity Ave SW
Atlanta, GA 30303
Once you have successfully completed the clearance process, the clearance is valid for two years before renewal is required. We apologize for any inconvenience this process may cause. However, we want to ensure that Centennial Academy remains fully aligned with APS requirements and district safety protocols while helping to maintain a safe environment for all of our scholars.
For additional information and instructions regarding the APS security clearance process, please visit the APS links provided below. If you have any questions or need additional assistance, please contact our Family Engagement Specialist, Mr. Brewer.

Shout Out to Mrs. Snipes for Volunteering!
A HUGE shoutout to Ms. Snipes, parent of 3rd grade scholar Chylon, for volunteering her time to assist with our morning carpool drop-off! Thank you for helping us welcome our scholars and start their day with a smile!
We need more amazing parent volunteers just like Ms. Snipes! Morning Greeters help welcome scholars as they arrive and make our morning arrival run smoothly.
This volunteer opportunity DOES NOT require the full APS background check and is an easy, meaningful way to give back to our CA community!

Upcoming Family Engagement Events
Upcoming Engagement Opportunities for Scholars!
Calling all interested scholars to serve as Scholar Ambassadors
Eligibility: Grades K–8
Purpose: The Voice. The Face. The Heart of Centennial.
Scholar Ambassadors serve as representatives of Centennial Academy and model the character, communication, professionalism, hospitality, and servant leadership expected of a Centennial Hero. Throughout the year, scholars develop authentic leadership skills while welcoming visitors, leading school tours, supporting family and community events, emceeing schoolwide programs, and representing Centennial throughout the broader community.
Selection Criteria
Scholar Ambassadors will be selected based on their demonstrated readiness to represent Centennial Academy with excellence.
Candidates should demonstrate:
Consistent modeling of Centennial's HERO Habits: Helpful, Engaged, Responsible, and Open-Minded
Positive behavior and adherence to school expectations
Consistent attendance and punctuality
Academic effort and responsibility
Strong or developing communication skills
Willingness to speak and interact with adults, peers, visitors, and community members
Dependability and ability to follow through on assigned responsibilities
School pride and a positive attitude
Willingness to receive coaching and feedback
Commitment to servant leadership
Selection will consider the whole scholar. Scholars do not have to enter the program as polished public speakers or experienced leaders. The Scholar Ambassador pathway is designed to identify leadership potential and intentionally develop those skills throughout the year.
