Vision: At Hines Elementary, we are committed to cultivating a vibrant and dynamic learning environment that ignites curiosity, fosters creativity, and celebrates student achievements. We are dedicated to providing opportunities for critical thinking that are essential for academic success and positive character growth. Through collaboration with families and the wider community, we strive to empower our students to reach their full potential and become responsible, compassionate, and engaged citizens.
A Note from Mrs. Mathe
Yesterday, our first grade Huskies had a great time at the Barnyard MOO-sical! They showed off their best moves, sang the cutest songs, and truly looked the part. Great job to our amazing first grade students and to Mrs. Carlisle, our incredible music teacher, for putting on such a fun and memorable show!
Our 3rd grade students also had an exciting day with a special field trip to Daikin Park, where they received VIP treatment and even brought home a great souvenir. What an unforgettable experience for our Huskies!
Today, we celebrated our Huskies who were recognized for showing Respect, as well as those who received the HERO Award. I always love this time together—celebrating one another and coming together as a community to honor our students.

Student Spotlight
Student Spotlight is a dedicated section in The Hines Herald that celebrates the amazing achievements, acts of kindness, talents, and positive contributions of our Huskies both inside and outside of school.
This space recognizes students who are reaching personal goals, excelling in academics, athletics, or the arts, serving others, or making a meaningful difference in our community. Our students are accomplishing incredible things, and Student Spotlight is one way we proudly share and celebrate those moments.
We encourage families to submit their child’s accomplishments so we can continue highlighting and honoring the many ways our Huskies shine. We look forward to featuring more of these inspiring stories!

The Race to Grand Oaks
We are excited to introduce The Race to Grand Oaks, May 9, 2026, on the campus of Grand Oaks High School. A community fun run designed to bring together feeder schools and the surrounding community in a spirit of friendly competition, school pride, and unity. While the event highlights the Grand Oaks feeder pattern, all schools and community members are welcome and encouraged to participate.
The Race to Grand Oaks is produced by Together We Run, a local company run by moms of students in the Grand Oaks feeder zone who strive to foster community through competition.
Our goal is to build a stronger sense of community while supporting programs that benefit our students. Proceeds from the race will support the York and Grand Oaks cross country and track programs, helping provide opportunities and resources for student-athletes.
To encourage school participation, $3 from every registration will be donated back to the PTO of the feeder school selected at the time of registration. In addition, the top three feeder schools with the highest participation will receive an additional donation for their PE departments.
Participants can also help boost their school’s standing through donations to The Youth Alliance (www.tyall.org). Every $5 donated equals one vote for the donor’s feeder school of choice, giving schools even more opportunity to place in the top three while supporting an organization dedicated to serving youth in our community.
There is an active discount promo code (Grizzlies2026) for 10% off all registrations that is valid through March 8, 2026.
