Principal's Message
We had so much fun in October! Thank you to everyone who attended our Terror in the Halls event. We had over 2000 people come through between the Lights on Tours and two nights of Terror. Thank you to Mrs. Richie and Mrs. Coletti for another terrifying year! Thank you to our Potter PTA and volunteers for working hard to raise money that will go to directly support our school. We started our month with our annual Color Run and rounded out our October festivities with our well-attended Halloween Parade!
As a reminder, due to the NJ Bell to Bell law and our district policy, students are not permitted to have smart phones, watches, or other two-way communication devices on them during the school day or on the bus. These can often times become distracting in the classroom. As per the policy, if a student brings one of these devices to school it needs to be off and in the child's backpack. Thank you in advance for your cooperation with this policy.
We ask that parents avoid signing students out of school early unless it is absolutely necessary, such as for an emergency or a medical appointment that cannot be scheduled outside of school hours. Instructional time is important for all students, regardless of age or grade level. From preschool through fourth grade, every minute of learning matters, and students benefit from being present for the entire school day. Early dismissals can disrupt learning and cause students to miss valuable instructional time. Thank you for your cooperation and for helping us ensure that all students have the opportunity to benefit from a full day of instruction.
As we start November, please remember that Parent Teacher Conferences will be held on November 23 and 24. If you have not already done so, please select a conference time in the Parent Portal.
School will be closed from November 2-6 for Fall Break, and on November 26 and 27 for Thanksgiving. As always, we are thankful for our amazing Potter Family, and we wish you all a Happy Thanksgiving.
Ms. Cimino
Preschool Flu Shot Reminder
The state of NJ requires that all students enrolled in school who are under 5 years old receive a flu shot or provide proper exemption documentation by November 30, 2026. Please speak to your doctor now. Contact Mrs. Thompsen at ext. 5005 if there are any questions.
PTA Reminders
Our Thanksgiving Pie Sale is open now through November 6! Orders can be submitted online via this link. Orders can be picked up from 4-7pm on Tuesday November 24.
Save the Date! Our holiday Candy Cane Lane event will be on Friday December 4. More information will follow.
Holiday Assistance
It is time to plan for the holidays. There are often times when families need assistance, making the holiday season a stressful time of year. We have various organizations that are helpful during the holidays, including our “Giving Tree” at Potter School. If you feel that your family is in need of assistance, please email Ms. Melanson our Guidance Counselor at rmelanson@btboe.org by November 13, 2026. Due to the increase of those in need, we will be able to provide assistance for students who attend Potter School or younger siblings. For older siblings, please contact the school that they attend for assistance. Resources are limited, so we will be unable to take any requests after this date.
The Giving Tree
Each year our H & M Potter School Giving Tree helps to provide holiday assistance for those in need. Rather than specific gifts we are asking that if you are interested in helping a family in need please send in a $5-$20 gift card to Walmart, Target, Amazon, or 5 Below. This will help us to provide assistance to families in the most efficient way possible. This community project has been a successful part of the school for many years, providing holiday gifts to Potter children.
All gift cards purchased should be returned to Potter’s Main Office or sent in with your child, between November 16-December 7. Please label the dollar amount, and mark that your donation is for the Giving Tree. We are unable to accept monetary donations or donations of toys at this time. Thank you for continuing to support our families.
