Every Day Counts: New Attendance Incentives! Every Day Counts: New Attendance Incentives!

Did you know that missing just two days of school per month (18 days per year) is considered chronic absenteeism? Even arriving late or checking out early can add up to significant lost learning time. A student who misses 15 days each year will miss the equivalent of nearly an entire school year by the time they graduate from high school!

Attendance matters for every student, including our highest achievers. A student may continue earning good grades despite frequent absences, but that doesn't mean their learning isn't affected. We want every student to demonstrate typical or above-typical academic growth, and missed instructional time can limit that growth, even for students who are already performing at grade level or above.

To make attendance a schoolwide priority, we're introducing two fun incentives:

  • Class GOAT Award: Each week, the class with the highest attendance rate will earn Goatee Attendsalot, our stuffed GOAT, to keep in their classroom for the week!

  • Attendance Ticket Days: On one surprise day each week, students who attend the entire school day will earn a ticket to enter monthly prize drawings. Students can choose which prizes they'd like to win!

Currently, approximately 1 in 5 of our students is chronically absent. With your help, we can change that! Please make regular, on-time attendance a priority. Every day of learning is an opportunity for growth, and every student deserves the chance to reach their full potential!

Costumes should be family friendly. Costumes may not be gory or threatening. Be safe: No weapons, real or pretend are allowed (i.e. light sabers, swords, hooks, Wolverine claws). Masks may not be worn. Crowns or hats may be worn. Be kind: Costumes should be fun and exciting, not offensiv
