A Note from the Principal
Dear Olmito Families,
Welcome to November, Ocelot families! As this school year continues to fly by, we thank you for your continued partnership in keeping our students focused and ready to learn. Middle-of-the-year testing for students in grades 2–5 begins this Tuesday, November 3.
Being at school, arriving on time, and actively participating each day are essential! Please help your child prepare by ensuring they get plenty of rest, eat a healthy breakfast, and arrive ready to give their best effort. Encourage them to take their time and show what they have learned. Together, we can make every school day count!
Important Needs to Know Item & Upcoming Activities/Events:
1) District Assessments and Interim Testing 🚨
Students in grades 2–5 will participate in fall assessments to show what they have learned and help teachers plan instruction based on their current needs.
Tuesday, November 3 — RLA: Grade 2 District Assessment; Grades 3–5 Interim Testing
Wednesday, November 4 — Math: Grade 2 District Assessment; Grades 3–5 Interim Testing
Tuesday, November 10 — Science: Grades 2–4 District Assessment; Grade 5 Interim Testing

4) Veterans Day Recognition ❤️🤍💙

5) October Attendance Challenge Winners 🍂
Congratulations to PreK, 2nd Grade, and 5th Grade for winning our October Attendance Challenge and earning a Popcorn and Pickles Party! Thank you, families, for helping your children attend school regularly and making every day count!
6) November Attendance Challenge Starts Monday! 😋🍽️
Our “Feasting on Great Attendance” Challenge begins Monday, November 2! Each grade level that achieves 96% attendance or higher on at least 10 days will earn a grade-level pizza party. Be here every day, Ocelots—let’s work together to reach our goal!
✅🚨 Attendance & Tardies 🚨✅
Consistent attendance and punctuality are essential to student success. Every school day provides valuable opportunities for learning, building skills, and connecting with teachers and classmates. When students are absent or arrive late, they miss important instruction that can be difficult to make up. Please help your child arrive at school each day before the 7:50 AM instructional bell, ready to learn.
We are also excited to begin our attendance incentives for the school year!
- 💛 Monthly Grade-Level Incentives: Entire grade levels that meet their monthly attendance goal will earn a special prize or treat.
- 👕Perfect Attendance Dress-Down Passes: Students with perfect attendance during each three-week grading cycle will earn a dress-down pass. Please note that excessive tardies (3 or more in a 3 week cycle) may disqualify a student from receiving this reward.
- 🎉 Random Attendance Incentives: Throughout the year, we will surprise students who are present that day with special prizes, treats, or activities.
- 🔔 Beat the Bell” Prizes: Students who arrive on time—before the 7:50 AM instructional bell—may be randomly selected to receive a prize!
- 🎟️ Be Here to Win Prizes: Random students based on classroom number will win a certificate from local/fast food restaurants. (Must be present to win!)
Thank you for your continued support and partnership! 🐾
Sincerely,
Mrs. Jennifer Garcia
