Serving Up Kindness: Beyond the Kitchen
We are bursting with pride to announce that our very own Ms. Gwen, Kitchen Manager at Bowlesburg, has been named the January Employee of the Month! Recently recognized by the Rock Island Office of Education, Ms.Gwen was nominated by her colleagues for being the "heart" of our school. She was nominated by staff and recognized for her incredible dedication to our students.
From the moment students step into the building, Ms. Gwen ensures their first interaction is a positive one. Whether she is checking in with every child during the breakfast rush or noticing when the "share bins" are full and delivering extra snacks to classrooms, her focus is always on the well-being and comfort of our learners.
The impact of Ms. Gwen’s "big heart" is felt by everyone, including parents who have shared their gratitude for her kindness. She has a unique ability to make every student feel seen, welcomed, and safe, resulting in a school full of children who know her by name and greet her with hugs. Ms. Gwen’s initiative, her willingness to go above and beyond, and her genuine love for our school community make her an asset to our halls. We are so lucky to have her on our team—congratulations, Ms. Gwen!
Join us for "Yes! I Can."
Weekly drawings are held every Friday, and three selected students from each grade level win a special themed lunch at a dedicated table. This program enhances our positive behavior system, ensuring every student has the tools and encouragement to succeed.
How You Can Help:
We invite you to be a part of this positive movement! Here are three ways you can support "Yes! I Can".:
Reinforce Habits at Home: Ask your child about the weekly work habit they are learning in class and encourage those same behaviors at home.
Donate Themed Lunch Items: We are always looking for small items or decorations to make our weekly prize lunches extra special for the winners.
Volunteer Your Time: Come in and help us facilitate these special lunch celebrations or assist with program activities.
