December 12, 2025
Dear Norwood Families,
The Class of 2026 middle school Snowball Dance is tonight, December 12th from 7 pm to 9 pm. Please see the flyer in this newsletter to reserve your spot on the dance floor.
On Wednesday, our elementary students had a fabulous musical performance for our winter concert. The band started the concert with three pieces, and the choir sang four songs. The students did a great job under the direction of our music teachers, Mrs. Egan and Mrs. Knipp. Thank you to our teachers, students, and parental support for our music program.
The life skills program went on a shopping spree this week to the mall. Students had a great time shopping for their families (and themselves).
This coming week, middle school students will be taking the CDT's (Classroom Diagnostic Tools) assessments.
Mr. Kost and Mrs. Vaughn will be having the American Heart Association glow party this week on Wednesday and Thursday.
On Friday, December 19th, there will be a PBIS spirt day. Students can wear winter or holiday gear. Please see the flyer in this newsletter.
Have a wonderful weekend! I look forward to seeing your students back in school on Monday.

Understanding the Differences between Rude Behavior, A Mean Moment, & Bullying:
Understanding the difference between a rude behavior, a mean moment, and bullying is an important part of helping children build healthy relationships at school. The image below helps explain these differences in a simple and meaningful way.
Rude Behavior:
Happens when someone says or does something hurtful, unintentionally, and only once.
Mean Moment:
When someone acts hurtful on purpose, but it may happen only once or in response to something done to them.
Bullying:
Intentional, repeated, and continues even after someone asks the person to stop or shows they are upset. Bullying comes in many forms: Physically bullying, cyber bullying, emotional bullying.
By understanding these distinctions, we can better support our children, guide them in resolving conflicts, and ensure we address true bullying quickly and effectively. Not every hurtful interaction is bullying, but all three types of behaviors matter and provide opportunities for learning, empathy, and growth.
Please take a moment to review the image below with your child. It can help spark meaningful conversations about kindness, respect, and how to seek help when needed.
Thank you for partnering with us to create a safe and supportive environment for every student!

Interboro School District:
Gifted Services at Interboro School District
Each year, Interboro School District conducts a Universal Screening for all students in grades K–12 to help identify those who may benefit from Gifted Support Services. This process involves collecting a variety of data to ensure every child’s learning needs are met.
If the screening results suggest that a student may benefit from a formal Gifted evaluation, parents or guardians will be contacted by the district to complete a Permission to Evaluate.
In addition to the Universal Screening, parents and guardians may also request a formal evaluation. Teachers and staff members may likewise recommend students for screening by completing a Gifted Behavioral Checklist.
For more information about the screening or evaluation process, please reach out to your child’s school counselor or Principal.
