Rose Tree Elementary Weekly Update
October 24, 2026
Dear Rose Tree Families,
It has been another busy, exciting, and fun-filled week at Rose Tree Elementary!
On Wednesday, we held our High Five Ticket Trade-In, and our Huskies continue to make great progress toward our schoolwide goal of 6,500 tickets! It is wonderful to see so many students being recognized for demonstrating what it means to be Ready, Respectful, and Responsible.
Yesterday, we celebrated one of our favorite Rose Tree traditions, Grandparents and Special Friends Day! It was wonderful to welcome so many special guests into our building and give them an opportunity to experience the amazing teaching and learning that takes place at Rose Tree. A special thank you to our wonderful PTG for providing delicious treats for our guests and helping make the day even more special. We truly appreciate their continued support and generosity!
Looking ahead, Red Ribbon Week begins on Monday, October 26! Don't forget to wear red on Monday to kick off the week. Please see the information below for the rest of our Red Ribbon Week activities and spirit days. We will wrap up the week with our annual Halloween Parade and Fall Parties on Friday, October 30. We are looking forward to a fun week filled with school spirit and special activities!
Also, please mark your calendars! Parent Teacher Conference sign-ups will open on Wednesday, November 4. Additional information will be shared soon.
Thank you for your continued support and partnership. Have a wonderful weekend, and let's keep showing everyone why Rose Tree ROCKS!
Warm regards,
Eric Bucci

RTMSD Parent and Guardian Parent Survey
Dear Rose Tree Families,
As parents and guardians, you are an important part of the Rose Tree Media School District community. Your voice matters, and your feedback helps us celebrate what is working well while identifying opportunities to improve the educational experience for our students and families.
We encourage all families to take a few minutes to complete the Parent Survey. If you have children attending more than one school in the district, please complete a separate survey for each building.
Please use the link below to access the survey:
Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts and for your continued partnership and support of Rose Tree Elementary!
Sincerely,
Eric F. Bucci

Wear Red!
Today we officially start the celebration and recognize Red Ribbon Week. This year’s theme is “Be a Hero, Stay Drug Free!” Each day of the week will be a different spirit day to celebrate Red Ribbon Week. Today we wear Red to kick off the week!
Tuesday October 27
Wear your Comfy Clothes!
Today’s message is about being comfortable with who you are! You should always be kind to yourself and others, be proud of who you are, and treat each other with respect and kindness. It also is about reaching out to others who may be feeling isolated or looking to fit in, and respecting and celebrating our differences!
Wednesday October 28
Wear your Favorite Team!
Today’s message is about being a hero in your community. There are many ways to make our community a better place for everyone! Making sure you throw your trash in the trash can, plant flowers, send a thank you to our community helpers like firefighters, police, or mail carriers, share a friendly smile! No matter how big or small, everything we do can make a positive impact in our community.
Thursday October 29
Wear Rose Tree Spirit Wear!
Today’s message is about making healthy choices. We make choices everyday to help us be the best we can be! Here are a few things you can do to stay strong and sharp! Exercising helps give us energy and is like a superpower for your heart and brain. Eating healthy foods, like fruits and whole grains, can help us grow and fuel our bodies. Drinking water keeps us hydrated and our brains ready to learn. Getting a good night’s sleep helps us stay focused and be our best learners.
A few reminders from Mrs. Hefferan, the school nurse:
Cold season is upon us and more and more students have been showing up in the nurse's office with stuffy noses, sore throats, sniffles and coughing. Students are allowed to be in school with a cold, just keep in mind these guidelines:
Any temperature of 100°F or higher means the student stays home. They can return only after being fever-free for 24 hours without fever-reducing medicine.
Mild sniffles are fine for school, but a deep, constant cough should stay home.
Students with sudden painful sore throats should stay home.
Keep them home if they are too tired or uncomfortable to focus on schoolwork.
Please remind your child to sneeze and cough into their elbow and wash their hands frequently when they have a cold.
The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends elementary aged children get between 10-12 hours of sleep per night. Getting 10-12 hours of sleep consistently every night strengthens a child’s immune system and improves their academic and athletic performance and behavior.
Thank you for helping us keep our school community healthy!
Contact Mrs. Hefferan (610)627-7228 with any questions.
Sincerely,
Bridget Hefferan

Rose Tree’s Halloween Celebrations will be held Friday, October 30, 2026.
Rose Tree Elementary will be holding classroom parties as well as our annual Halloween parade. The time of the party will depend on the grade level (please only four volunteers per classroom). Parents/guardians, siblings, and family members are invited to join us at 2pm in the bus loop to view our parade.
Party is limited to classroom volunteers ONLY
10:15 - 11:00 AM: AM Kindergarten Fall Classroom Party
Parents/guardians, siblings, and family members are invited to the AM Kindergarten Halloween Parade
11:10: AM Kindergarten Halloween Parade (Side Parking Lot Flag Pole)
2:00-2:35 PM: PM Kindergarten - Fifth Grade Halloween Parade (Front Bus Loop 1st AVE)
**please check with individual teacher for classroom party time**
Campus VISITORS:
We have limited parking on our campus (please try to carpool if you can).
PM Visitors should park in the playground lot or on the street.
All classroom volunteers must sign in (with our security greeter) and obtain a Volunteer badge
Adults - in the interest of safety, please do NOT wear costume masks or face paint.
STUDENTS: Students may choose to bring a costume for the parade but it is not required.
COSTUME GUIDELINES - If your child wishes to wear a costume, please adhere to the following:
AM & PM Kindergarten students should come to school dressed in costume.
First through Fifth Grade students bring their costumes to school in a bag.
Children’s costumes must be of a nonviolent nature that is appropriate for a school setting.
Students are not permitted to carry any item that could be characterized as a prop weapon (grim reaper’s staff, sword, lightsaber, devil’s pitchfork, nerf gun, etc.)
Students should be able to put their costumes on independently in their classrooms, as we will be having 4 volunteers per classroom in the building to assist students.
Please limit face make-up since we will have only a limited amount of time to support the students.
We request that students do not wear inflatable costumes, as they can be very challenging to maneuver through stairs and hallways.
Caution your student about the safety factors involved in getting on or off a bus or walking home while carrying their costume. Children are not permitted to go home at lunch to get dressed.
For those who do not wish to participate in the Halloween Parade or classroom parties, or do not celebrate Halloween, there will be alternative fun offered! Please be sure to fill out the survey to let us know if your student would like to participate in the alternative activities so that we can plan accordingly!
Alternate Activities for Halloween Survey
In the event of inclement weather, the parade will be moved indoors.
Thank you for your support in making this a fun and safe event for our school community!

A Collaborative Effort
Welcome to the 2026-27 School Year!
Parents, teachers, students, and administrators came together to learn about and discuss the cultural holidays and events observed throughout the school year. Together, they developed the list of holidays and events our schools will recognize, teach about, or celebrate. The selections featured in this newsletter reflect the voices and input of our community.
By learning about the cultures, traditions, and experiences represented in our community, we build greater understanding and acceptance of one another. This shared learning strengthens relationships and enhances each person’s sense of belonging in our schools.
Please select the “Resources” links to learn more.
Please email Ralph Harrison if you have any suggestions or ideas about our monthly events and holidays. We honor dignity by taking the time to learn about the cultures of all of our community members. The events/holidays are listed in the order they occur during the month. For more details, please click on the "Resources" links.
