WHS Principal's Update!!
8/14/26
Important Info f/ Your Principal, Mrs. Gorham!
What a great first week back at Wellington High School! It was wonderful to welcome our Wolverines back to campus and see our students already demonstrating The Wellington Way—being Respectful of Myself and Others, Ready to Learn, and Responsible in Words and Deeds!
Throughout the week, we took time to review important school policies, procedures, and expectations to ensure that we are all on the same page and ready for a safe, successful, and positive school year. We encourage our families to review the slide decks attached to this newsletter and use them as an opportunity to continue these conversations at home with your students.
Thank you for a fantastic start to the year! We are excited for all that lies ahead and look forward to making this an amazing year for our Wolverines! 💙🐾

🚗 Parent Drop-Off Reminders
Parents/Guardians, thank you for helping us keep morning drop-off safe, efficient, and moving! A few important reminders:
We can safely release up to 40 cars at a time when everyone pulls forward as far as possible and students are ready to exit. Please do not wait until you are directly in front of the school entrance to let your student out—especially when the cars ahead of and behind you have already unloaded. Once you enter the drop-off loop, if there is a sidewalk beside your vehicle, please have your student exit when all the cars in front of you have stopped. Pull forward, drop off, and keep it moving!
Additionally, please be courteous when entering the line from Greenview Shores. Please do not cut in front of other vehicles that have been patiently waiting. We know everyone has somewhere to be in the morning, and the line moves much more efficiently when we work together and model the same respect, responsibility, and good citizenship we expect from our students.
Insider tip: The sweet spot for shorter to NO line is 6:45–7:00 a.m.! If you arrive after 7:00 a.m., please plan for additional traffic and wait time—it is definitely a process! 😊
Thank you for your patience, cooperation, and for helping us start each morning the Wellington Way! 💙🐾

College & Career Counselors Corner!!
College Applications - Linking XELLO and Common App
Wellington Community High School uses Xello for all college and career planning. Students will use Xello to link their Common App accounts and submit requests for counselor and teacher documents.
Important: If a student has already invited their counselor on Common App, they still must link their Common App account to Xello. This connection is essential for counselors to send the required documents (such as transcripts, School Reports, or Letters of Recommendation) to colleges on time.
How to Access Xello: Log in through the student portal → search “XELLO” → click the Xello tile.
Please see the attached document for further instructions. Start with the Student Guide for Linking Common App and Xello (article).
If you have any questions, please reach out to your counselor.

LightSpeed- Student Safety Monitoring Tool - All District Devices and Technology Resources
The School District of Palm Beach County (SDPBC) prioritizes the safety and well-being of its students. As an extra layer of support and in alignment with School Board Policy 8.123 Technology Acceptable Use Policy for Students, the School District has contracted with Lightspeed Systems (“LightSpeed”) for the LightSpeed Alert product. This product is a student safety monitoring tool designed to help schools identify and address potential safety concerns. District devices and technology resources are monitored by this program.
**This includes student use of District accounts when logged in on non-District devices. We suggest students either use District devices to access the District portal, or be sure to log out of their District account/Google profile when finished.
LightSpeed will have access to the personally identifiable student information necessary to provide the monitoring services. In compliance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (“FERPA”) regulations, LightSpeed will be considered a “school official” for the purposes of providing the monitoring service. They are contractually bound to comply with FERPA privacy protections and protections required by Florida law. Thank you for your understanding and support in enhancing school safety protocols in our District.
