Thanksgiving
As Native peoples, Thanksgiving takes on a different meaning for us. This day can serve as an opportunity to share the true history of our people, highlighting the resilience and struggles we have faced. Many choose to spend this time with family, gathering around the table to enjoy traditional foods and engage in meaningful conversations.
Some may observe the National Day of Mourning, a time to acknowledge the injustices faced by Indigenous communities throughout history and honor those who came before us. Whether you choose to celebrate with family, reflect on the past, or simply take some time for yourself, I encourage you to use this break to pause and consider the legacy of our ancestors.
Let us take a moment to remember their strength and sacrifices, and strive to honor their memories in our daily lives. This Thanksgiving, may we all find ways to celebrate our heritage and pay tribute to those who paved the way for us.
