8th Grade Tours and Orientation 8th Grade Tours and Orientation

Hello, 8th Grade Parents and Guardians.

It’s hard to believe that your students’ middle school days have almost come to an end. WTHS would like to congratulate all of our 8th grade students as they approach the completion of middle school! We hope you enjoy the end of the year festivities and celebrations of your student’s accomplishments! We are now referring to these students as our rising 9th graders! We are looking forward to having your child with us at William Tennent High School this fall, and we want your child's transition to be as smooth as possible.

In order to ease the transition to high school, we are pleased to offer a parent/guardian orientation presentation on Thursday, May 23, 2024. If you would like a tour before our presentation, please arrive at WTHS at 5:30pm. WTHS students will be available to lead tours of the building. Our presentation will begin at 6:30 pm in the William Tennent auditorium. Rising 9th grade students are welcome to accompany parents/guardians to this presentation.

We look forward to welcoming our freshmen, the Class of 2028, to William Tennent High School for their 8th grade field day on May 28, 2024. Lunch will be provided in the WTHS cafeteria.

Over the summer, keep your eyes out for eAlerts with important information. Additionally, families who are interested may choose to attend one of our new student tours in August. More information regarding these tours will be sent later in the summer.

Please also know that high school schedules will be released on August 15, 2024.

Should you have any questions, please contact our Grade 9 House Principal, Mrs. Shaquina Spraggans.

Have a wonderful summer, stay safe, and be well!

Best,

Dr. Julie Henrich

Principal

NJHS Clothing Drive NJHS Clothing Drive

NJHS Clothing Drive

The members of Log College Chapter of the National Junior Honor Society organized the 4th annual Clothing Drive on Saturday, April 27th. Members collected items such as clothes, shoes, handbags, household items, toys and other miscellaneous items. Community members donated over 1,600 pounds worth of items. The Company ClothingShoeDrive.com wrote out a check for $153.00. The proceeds will be donated to the Honor and Courage Foundation. This organization supports wounded, injured and ill service members, veterans, their caregivers and those that aid in their recovery by providing assistance and outreach in their recovery, comfort and morale, and through advocacy, education and promotion of their circumstances. We look forward to another successful clothing drive in 2025 to our continued support of our Veterans!

Spring Vocal Concert Spring Vocal Concert

Log College's Spring Concert was a night to remember. Belting out tunes like "Everybody Wants to Rule the World" and a medley of all-time favorites, the Log College Singers and Choir had a wonderful show for a packed house!

Model UN Model UN

Log College’s Junior Model UN Club attended their final UN Conference on Tuesday, May 14th at Temple University. The goal of Jr. Model UN is to work collaboratively to propose recommendations on solving two of the major world issues from the viewpoint of their assigned nation. Student delegates received badges that included their names, countries (Bangladesh or El Salvador), topics (Access to Clean Water or Reducing Income Inequality), and committee (#1 or #2).

Delegates prepared for this conference by creating position and resolution papers.

Upon arrival, students were split into small conference rooms based on their badges. Once in the conference rooms, delegates introduced themselves to delegates from other schools, and received directives from council leaders.

Delegates had the opportunity to collaborate with other schools representing different countries and to compromise on resolutions.

Congratulations to the first team of delegates and all your efforts!

Spring Sports - Log vs. Klinger Week Spring Sports - Log vs. Klinger Week

In the final chapter of the Log vs. Klinger athletic matchups for the 2023-2024 sports season, Log College faces Klinger Middle School at William Tennent High School:

Monday: 7:00 Track and Field

Thursday: 3:15 Baseball and Softball, 7:30 - Girls Soccer

Physical Education Class Physical Education Class

Last month, PE classes spent time participating in a variety of cooperative challenges that emphasized the development of team-building skills like communication, problem solving, and creativity. It was impressive to watch some students really take an active leadership role in class to help their teams find success in a variety of different ways. This unit also helped students prepare for the infamous Obstacle Course - a long-standing Log tradition - which many students are able to conquer with the help of their peers. The obstacle course has been up and running for the last week or so and it has been exciting to see so many students step outside of their comfort zones and encourage others to do the same. It has been a significant culminating experience for all as the school year begins to wrap up, truly embodying the resilience it takes to persevere through the challenges and hurdles they have faced throughout the year.
