The Weekly Update Aledo HS
Campus Newsletter
Volume 3, Issue 5 August 24, 2026
This week marks our third week of school, which means we will be publishing Progress Reports next week!
Please take some time to have meaningful conversations with your students about developing healthy academic habits and making sure they are off to a strong start.
Students will also have time during FLEX this week to focus on tutorials, catch up on assignments, or follow up with their teachers if they need additional support. Encourage your student to take advantage of this time and be proactive about getting the help they need.
Here are a few questions you can use to check in with your high school student:
- Have them walk you through their daily schedule. Ask what each class is like and how they are managing their time.
- Which class concerns you the most right now? This can help identify where they may need additional support.
- Which class is taking up the most of your free time? Talk about whether their workload feels manageable and how they are balancing academics with other commitments.
- What is one thing you feel really good about so far this year? Celebrate the positives while identifying areas for growth.
These simple conversations can help students reflect on their progress, build healthy habits, take advantage of available support, and seek help early when needed.
FLEX starts tomorrow
What Is FLEX Time?
Each student received an email today with their individual FLEX schedule.
FLEX is a structured and purposeful part of the school day designed to provide students with flexibility based on their individual academic needs. During FLEX, students may be “tagged” by a teacher for a specific purpose, such as:
- Intervention or additional academic support
- Extension or enrichment activities
- Anchor-up work
- Tutorials or reassessment opportunities
- Other teacher-directed academic needs
If a student is not tagged by a teacher, they are still expected to use FLEX time productively. Students should find an appropriate location and use the time to work on schoolwork of their own choosing—studying, completing assignments, reading, preparing for upcoming assessments, or working ahead.
The goal of FLEX is to give students choice and flexibility while ensuring that the time is used purposefully. If you are not tagged, that does not mean you have nothing to do. It means you have the flexibility to decide how best to use that time to support your own learning.
That is what makes it FLEX time!

After you submit your request, you will receive a confirmation email that includes a link to the district's Attendance Matters website, where you can learn more about attendance procedures and documentation requirements.
If your student's healthcare provider determines that it is medically infeasible for your student to attend school for multiple consecutive days, please ask the provider to complete the Serious/Life-Threatening Medical Condition form and return it to your campus attendance clerk.

Campus Clubs and Organizations
Clubs and Organizations Parent Consent Form
In accordance with Senate Bill 12 passed by the 89th Texas Legislature, school districts are required to obtain written parental consent before allowing a student to participate in a school-sponsored club or organization.
Please review the list of clubs and organizations at your child's school and indicate your consent below. A separate form will need to be completed for each student.
Principal's Advisory Committee
Mr. Martinak is on the hunt for bold, opinionated Aledo High School Bearcats!
Think you’ve got ideas that could make Aledo HS even better? Think people need to hear your voice (and maybe can’t stop you from sharing it anyway)? Fill out the form and see if you get picked to join the squad.
This committee will gather student perspectives at Aledo High School. Members will meet about once a month with Principal Martinak or other administrators to discuss initiatives and campus needs. Meetings will held during the school day during lunches to limit class disruptions.

General Parking
Aledo High School students who wish to drive to school and park in one of the high school student lots will be required to purchase a parking permit for the 202-2027 school year. General parking sales are now open through MySchoolBucks and will remain open throughout the school year. The map displays general parking areas in green. We will have additional general parking for all students to access the Field House and Steve Wood Complex.
AHS parking permits are $50 for full-year parking and $25 for students just needing parking for the second semester. Students who purchase a senior reserved parking spot DO NOT need to purchase a parking permit separately; the cost of the permit is included with the senior reserved parking spot. Parking fees will be utilized to support safety and security-related items at AHS and AISD.
Permits will be available for pick up in cafeteria during lunches the first week of school.
If you need financial assistance with parking fees, please reach out to your school counselor.
Student IDs
At Aledo High School, the safety and security of our students, staff, and families is always a top priority. One way we strengthen campus safety is by requiring all students to wear their school-issued ID badge whenever they are on school property during the school day.
Students received their ID badges during Bearcats Are Back. If your student did not receive their ID, they can pick it up in the cafeteria during their assigned lunch.
Please help us reinforce this important safety expectation by reminding your Bearcat to wear their ID badge around their neck and keep it visible at all times while on campus.
Thank you for helping us maintain a safe and secure campus for all of our Bearcats!
