Tewksbury Public Schools
March 2026
Message from the Superintendent
Dear TPS Community,
As we welcome the middle of March, I’m excited to share some important updates and celebrate the fantastic work happening across our schools. And what a great day it is—the official First Day of Spring is today!
This month brings significant news for the future of our district. We are thrilled to announce that the School Committee has unanimously named Dr. Nancy Milligan as our new Superintendent for next school year, beginning on July 1, 2026. This decision, made at a recent meeting, ensures continued visionary leadership for Tewksbury Public Schools, as Nancy has been currently serving as our assistant superintendent for the past 2 years. Tewksbury is fortunate to have such a talented and dedicated school leader continue in her service to our school district. We are also delighted to welcome Angela Lawler Brennan in her new role as our District Student Family Support Director. Angela will replace Ms. Karen Baker O’Brien on July 1, 2026, upon Karen’s retirement. While Angela has very big shoes to fill, her expertise will be invaluable in further strengthening our support systems for students and families.
The official hiring season is also upon us, as we seek to fill retirements and open positions for next school year. Please visit our District website regularly if you are interested in joining our team at https://www.tewksbury.k12.ma.us/departments-programs/human-resources/
Saying goodbye is also bittersweet. Which is why we want to express our deepest gratitude and thankfulness to Ms. Katie Anderson for her years of dedicated service on the School Committee. Her commitment to our students and district has been invaluable. Katie served the Tewksbury Public Schools at her last official meeting on Wednesday night, March 18, 2026.
There are so many March highlights and events to brag about at all our schools, and to thank the TPS community for organizing. Please scroll through this newsletter to learn more about these student accomplishments, school enrichment, and community activities.
Finally, please remember to check our official 25-26 school calendar recent schedule changes regarding Good Friday (now a full day of school) and the last day of school now scheduled for Thursday, June 18th. In addition, the School Committee officially approved the calendar for next school year, 2026-2027, which is also posted to the TPS District website calendar page at www.tewksbury.k12.ma.us/calendar/
Thank you for your unwavering partnership and dedication to our students. Let’s make this transition into Spring a successful one!
Warmly and with gratitude,
Brenda Theriault-Regan
Superintendent

Tewksbury Girls & Boys Hockey at MIAA Finals
Congratulations to the Tewksbury/Methuen Red Rangers for winning the MIAA Division 1 state title in a shut-out match against Archbishop Williams at the TD Garden on Sunday, March 15th! The first goal of the game was scored by TMHS junior Sammy Ryan and TMHS senior and goalie Lydia Barnes had 21 saves during the game. The entire team has had a fantastic undefeated season and we're thrilled by their accomplishments!
We're also incredibly proud of our Redman Boys Hockey team, who played a hard-fought game in the Division 2 MIAA final at TD Garden. Though the outcome was not what we'd hoped for, the team played with admirable skill, heart, and perseverance.
DECA Accomplishments
The TMHS DECA chapter participated in the Massachusetts DECA State Career Development Conference, with 8 teams moving on to the Finals Competition.
As a result, TMHS will have 3 teams of students competing at the DECA International Career Development Conference, along with 3 more students attending the Leadership Academies at it as well.
Congratulations to all students who participated in this conference!

Kindergarten students at Heath Brook and first graders at Dewing took a special behind-the-scenes tour of their school kitchens through our Jr. Kitchen Explorers Program. Students learned how meals are prepared, the importance of food safety, and how healthy choices come together using MyPlate.
The experience was both educational and fun, helping students connect with our Food & Nutrition Services team while building healthy habits for life. Each student proudly received a Junior Kitchen Explorer Certificate and apron—and it’s safe to say the staff enjoyed the experience just as much as the students!

Tewksbury Wellness Together!
The Tewksbury Wellness Together Fair, held on March 10th at TMHS, was a success! With over 35 vendors and a wide range of student-led presentations, the event brought together our community in a meaningful and engaging way. Attendees enjoyed interactive activities, valuable wellness resources, and inspiring student involvement.
The energy and participation throughout the evening were outstanding, and we received great feedback from participants requesting that we bring this event back again next year—something we are excited to explore!
TMHS Senior Places at Concurs Oratorie 2026
TMHS is proud to announce that Senior Joanna Green placed 2nd for her speech this year at the Concours Oratoire 2026!
The French Oratorical Contest is meant to engage and encourage the study of the French language by area high school students. This year's students presented a short speech about a social networking site and its value for learning French. Participants were recognized for their skill in French and awarded cash prizes from the Club Richelieu of Lowell.
