Settling Into School Routines
As the school year gets underway, our students are hard at work learning the rhythms of their new classroom! From lining up and transitions between activities, to following morning check-in procedures and practicing hallway expectations, these first weeks are all about building the habits that will support learning all year long.
Routines might seem like small things, but they help children feel safe, confident, and ready to learn. When kids know what to expect, they can spend less energy figuring out "what comes next" and more energy on friendships, curiosity, and growth.
You can support this at home by:
- Keeping a consistent bedtime and morning routine
- Talking with your child about their school day and what they're learning
- Being patient if mornings feel a little bumpy — new routines take practice!
Thank you for partnering with us as our students settle into the rhythm of the school year. We're excited for all the growth ahead!

Next Week in Math: Volume of Rectangular Prisms
This week we're starting a new math unit on volume! Students will learn how to measure the amount of space inside a three-dimensional shape (like a box or a cube), using units such as cubic inches, cubic centimeters, or cubic units.
What we'll cover:
- Understanding volume as filling a space with unit cubes
- Finding the volume of rectangular prisms using the formula V = length × width × height
- Solving real-world problems involving volume (like packing boxes or filling containers)
Reading/Language Arts Next Week:
We will begin analyzing poetry by looking at how poets use imagery, sound devices, and structure to express ideas and feelings. Students will practice reading closely, discussing poems, and sharing their interpretations.
Social Studies Next Week:
In social studies, students will practice locating all 50 states on a blank map. We will use games and practice activities to help them build accuracy and confidence.
Science Next Week:
In science, we will begin learning about the properties of matter. Students will explore how matter can be described, classified, and measured through hands-on investigations and discussions.
