Dear Windsong Ranch Elementary Families,

Happy New Year Windsong Families! I hope everyone enjoyed time with family and friends over the winter break. We had a lot of sleepy students (and staff, including myself!) this week as everyone got back into their routines.

I took time over the break to read The Anxious Generation by Jonathan Haidt. After finishing, I couldn't help but wish I had read it when my own girls were young as I see in them some of the same areas of concern discussed in his research. The book reminded me how important balance is for ourselves and more importantly, our kids. It's an impactful read for anyone with kids!

5th Grade Parents: As students begin preparing for the transition to 6th grade, important information will be shared in the Counselor’s Corner section of our newsletter. Be sure to review that section each week for updates, timelines, and resources to support your child’s move to middle school.

Together we Prosper,

Michelle Qualls

Together We Champion

Our 5th graders are diving into TEKS 5.13B as they practice real-world research and presentation skills! Students had autonomy to choose their own topic, explore information through research, and work with a partner to review and revise their work. They also get to decide how they want to share their learning: whether through Google Docs, Slides, a handmade poster, or a digital poster. We love seeing their creativity, collaboration, and independence shine!

Named by HEB’s Excellence in Education Awards as the Best Large District in the State of Texas, Prosper ISD has an established 67-year history that is grounded in the humble roots of a farming community, now soaring to the fastest growing school district in Texas, due in no small part to the pursuit of excellence in the arts, academics and athletics.
