Strategic Fencing
Fencing Update:
The multi-year strategic planning project at Birch Lane Elementary is now complete! This project reflects years of collaboration between our school district and community members, and we appreciate everyone who helped make these improvements possible.
With the installation of the new fencing, there are some important changes to how we enter and exit the school. The main entrance is the sidewalk located between the Main Office and the Old MPR (Multi-Purpose Room). Please use this entrance whenever entering or leaving campus.
The new gates are not intended for public entry or exit and must remain closed. Please do not prop them open.
We apologize for any inconvenience these changes may cause and appreciate your patience, cooperation, and continued commitment to keeping Birch Lane Elementary a safe place for all students, staff, and visitors.
Thank you for your support!
Note from the PTA
Hello Birch Lane Community!
It finally feels like fall, and just in time—the Family Autumn Festival and Scarecrow Breakfast are right around the corner!
All families are invited to make a scarecrow at home to display at school before Halloween. There has been lively discussion in my family regarding our theme… will it be a soccer player… a football player… so many possibilities!
Whichever (school-appropriate) direction you choose, we can’t wait to see your creations! Here is how the events will flow:
1. Scarecrow Drop-Off & Autumn Festival
When: Saturday, October 25th
Drop-off Time: 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM
Autumn Festival: 12:00 PM - 3:00 PM
Where: Birch Lane Arboretum
Please drop off your scarecrows at the Arboretum during the morning window so they are set up and ready for everyone to enjoy at the Autumn Festival at 12pm that afternoon! They will remain on display in the Arboretum through the following week.
2. Scarecrow Breakfast & Best in Show
When: Wednesday, October 28th, starting at 8:00 AM
Where: Cafeteria & Arboretum
To make the morning extra festive, the cafeteria will be serving pumpkin muffins with breakfast starting at 8:00 AM. Students can grab their breakfast and head out to the Arboretum to walk through the scarecrow display.
Parents, we know this is early—don't worry, we’ll have coffee waiting for you there! We will also announce the Best in Show scarecrow contest winner during the breakfast.
Autumn Festival Volunteers Needed!
The annual Autumn Festival is almost here! Join us on campus on Sunday, October 25th from 12:00-3:00 PM. The PTA is looking for volunteers- you can sign up with the links below.

Note from the Garden Coordinator
Students have been learning about prepping garden beds, pollinators in the Castle Courtyard, and harvesting pomegranates. We are starting to get plants in the ground in the Kinder Yard. We have a work party planned this Sunday 10/18 9am-noon to get the farm closer to planting, and we will soon be ready to harvest persimmons. Since the persimmons are high in the trees, hopefully volunteers with fruit pickers can come help out with that.
Lost and Found
The lost and found cart has moved to the back of the school near the bike racks, and Room 12. As the year progresses, more and more clothing, lunch boxes and water bottles are added. Any very small items are brought to the front office. Make sure to check it out from time to time :)
