Fisher FamilyUpdateJune 19, 2020

Good Afternoon Fisher Families,

Today marks the end of the 2019-2020 school year! Congratulations to all our students for their hard work all year, especially these past few months. I'm so proud and appreciative of the dedication, innovation and perseverance demonstrated by our students and educators. I also want to thank you for all the support and teaching you provided your child at home. It was a great TEAM effort!

This past week the students returned to school to pick up their belongings. The teachers and I had a great time seeing all of you and we loved having our school community back together again, if only for a little while. Thank you to the PAC for all the decorations you provided the different grade levels each day! You helped turn what might have been a sad event into a celebration. I also want to thank the parents of the fifth grade moving on committee for all their hard work to make their pick up day a memorable one. Our fifth graders missed out on the end of the year events that they have been looking forward to for a long time. On Thursday, the entire Fisher Staff was there to recognize and cheer for the Class of 2020 as they paraded around the school, seeing pictures of themselves and their classmates, blue and orange decorations and receiving their yearbook and graduation certificate. What a fun event...that might become a new tradition!

After the parade, PAC treated the teachers to lunch from Conrad's. We took this opportunity to have an impromptu end of the year party and say goodbye to each other for the summer. Thank you PAC!

We had three special good byes for staff who will be moving on from Fisher. Ms. Maura Garrity is moving to sunny California, Ms. Cassie Spoor is heading south to North Carolina and Ms. Joanne Johnson is sailing off into retirement. On behalf of the entire Fisher Community, I'd like to say thank you for all you've done for the students, families and teachers of Fisher School over the years! You will be missed.

Term II report cards were shared this morning. Please let me know if you have any difficulty viewing them. Teacher assignments will be shared with families on August 14th.

Some difficult decisions were made regarding classrooms for next year. At this time we will have the follow number of classrooms at each grade level:

Kindergarten: 4 classrooms

Grade 1: 4 classrooms

Grade 2: 4 classrooms

Grade 3: 4 classrooms

Grade 4: 3 classrooms

Grade 5: 3 classrooms

These changes were made to ensure that our youngest students would have the smallest possible class sizes.

Finally, I look forward to continuing a dialogue with families next school year regarding how we can provide the most inclusive learning environment as possible and celebrate the diversity we are so fortunate to have in our school and community. I will update you before the school year with more details.

Thank you again for all you support this year and the teachers and I hope you have a happy, healthy and fun summer! You all deserve it!

Thank you for a great year,

Brian

Term II Report Cards

Student report cards for Term II have been made available for families to view by accessing the Aspen Family Portal. Instructions for logging into your account to view your child(ren)'s report card have been provided. To more effectively communicate student progress to families in this unique learning environment, report cards will take a narrative format using a newly created form. The narrative template developed by grade level teachers addresses essential standards and are consistent across the grade level. Art, Music and Physical Education teachers have also developed common narratives addressing essential standards. Next year, we anticipate returning to the traditional standards based report card.
