Dear HMS Families,
We have a FUN and spirited week ahead at HMS as we celebrate Red Ribbon Week (October 26–30) and wrap up the week with some Halloween fun! We encourage all of our Eagles to participate in our themed spirit days as we promote healthy choices, positive relationships, and a drug-free lifestyle!

HALLOWEEN COSTUME GUIDELINES – FRIDAY, OCTOBER 30!
We LOVE seeing our students' creativity and school spirit, and we can't wait to see the fun costumes they come up with! To keep the day safe, enjoyable, and appropriate for school, please remember:
No face paint
No masks
No toy weapons or weapon accessories
No inflatable costumes or items
All costumes must follow the LPS dress code.
Students are welcome to dress up, but costumes should allow them to participate safely and comfortably in their regular school day.
Week 10...let's Get It!
Best,

Thank you for such a great turnout at our fall Parent/Teacher Conferences! We had 313 families participate, representing 43% of our HMS families, and filled 53% of our available conference times! We know how busy life can get between work, activities, and everything else your families have going on, so we truly appreciate you taking the time to connect with our teachers and be part of these important conversations. We say it all the time, but it really does take all of us working together to help our students be successful. We are so thankful for the partnership we have with our HMS families and the support you continue to show our students and staff.

Worth Mentioning Again...
- Please be sure to check out the Family Learning Modules that build an awareness and understanding of educational opportunities and learning experiences that support the individualized needs and personal interests of students.
- Protect Your Student’s Device and Avoid Costly Repairs. Families are encouraged to purchase Device Protection for just $25 per year—and there is no cost for students who qualify for free or reduced-price lunch. With Device Protection, accidental damage claims are $40 per incident ($20 for free/reduced lunch students), and lost or stolen devices have a $100 claim fee. Without Device Protection, families are responsible for the full cost of repairs or replacement. For example, replacing a damaged iPad screen can cost approximately $150. Device Protection is an affordable way to be protected from unexpected repair expenses. More information can be found on the Technology FAQ site.
Worlds of Fun Behavior Incentive
We are getting excited about the PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports) incentives we have planned for our Eagles this year! Throughout the school year, students earn LiveSchool points—think of it as a digital bank account...for demonstrating the behaviors we want to see at HMS (being kind, safe, responsible, making good choices, and contributing positively to our school community.)
Students will have opportunities throughout the year to “spend” those points on different activities, experiences, and incentives.
And then there is the BIG one...Worlds of Fun!
At the end of the school year, students who qualify will have the opportunity to attend our Worlds of Fun incentive trip. Because this is our largest PBIS experience of the year, there are additional requirements students must meet in order to attend, and we want families to know about those expectations well in advance. Here is the important part...the qualification window does not begin until students return from Winter Break in January.
Students will need to meet all of the established criteria from January through May in order to qualify for the trip. That also means nothing from this first semester will disqualify a student from attending Worlds of Fun! Instead...we want students to think of this semester as their practice round, a great opportunity to build the habits that will help them be successful when the qualification period begins. Show up. Make good choices. Be kind. Be safe. Be responsible. Take care of your work. Earn those LiveSchool points.
We want as many Eagles as possible to be able to join us in May, and there is plenty of time to practice those expectations now! More information about the specific Worlds of Fun criteria is below, but we wanted to make sure families had this on their radar well before the qualification window begins.
