Mrs. Casdorph's Counselor News
September 2026
Hello!
The hallways are buzzing, classrooms are busy, and, thanks to the Texas heat, even indoor recess is full of energy! It has been such a joy to welcome our students back and see their smiling faces filling the building again.
Whether it’s recess adventures, sleepovers, group projects, or a lively game during indoor recess, just about everything is better with a good friend by your side! This month, we will explore what it means to be a good friend and we will practice using words and actions to show others we care. These simple skills can grow into friendships that last a lifetime.
Friendship:
Using your words and actions to show others you care.
Please feel free to reach out anytime with questions or concerns. I’m excited for a fantastic year of learning and growing together!

KNOW IT:
ASK A GROWN-UP:
• Has there ever been a time when a friend let you down? Explain.
• Share a story of a time you were a good friend to someone who was in a difficult situation.
ASK A KID:
• What are some things that your best friend does to make you feel special?
• Who are some grownups you know that are good friends?
BE IT:
A couple nights each school week, ask your child(ren) how he/she was a good friend to
someone at school that day.
Examples might be:
• Making an effort to welcome a new student and show them around the school
• Defending a classmate when they are being treated unfairly
• Letting an adult know when a student needs help and is in trouble
• Sharing a snack with someone who didn’t bring anything
