Faith In Action
St Apollinaris was a revered miracle-worker and martyr in early Christianity. He served as the Bishop of Ravenna, Italy, during the 1st century. His life was marked by numerous miraculous healings and conversions, but he faced persecution and martyrdom for his unwavering faith. He remains a symbol of steadfast devotion.
Living the St Anthony's Way is about embodying the values and teachings of St Anthony and following in his footsteps. It means putting our faith into action by showing kindness, love and compassion to others. We strive to be our personal best in everything we do, giving our all and never giving up. We understand that we are stronger when we are united and appreciate and respect the unique qualities and differences of every person in our school community. Just like Jesus, we aim to be kind and understanding, always treating others with acceptance and empathy. We know that life can be challenging, but we remain resilient and face difficulties with determination and a positive attitude. We take responsibility for our actions and strive to meet the high expectations set for us, both in our learning and with our friendships. We actively engage in our learning and show compassion towards others, offering a helping hand whenever it is needed. We practice good manners, are considerate and caring towards those around us. We understand that making mistakes is a part of learning, and we use them as opportunities for growth. We value teamwork and collaboration, working together to solve problems and achieve common goals. By living the St Anthony's Way, we aim to make a positive difference in our school and community, spreading love and kindness wherever we go.

The St Anthony's Way: Accepts Others
Dear St Anthony's Parents,
At St Anthony's School, we wholeheartedly embrace our school's vision and values, known as 'The St Anthony's Way.' One integral aspect of this ethos is fostering a culture of acceptance among our students, staff and parents.
Acceptance is more than just a word; it's a guiding principle that shapes the foundation of our school community. We believe in creating an inclusive environment where every individual, irrespective of their background, race, ethnicity, culture, or abilities, feels welcomed and valued.
Our commitment to acceptance enriches the educational journey of our children. By exposing them to diverse perspectives and nurturing an atmosphere of understanding, we empower them to become compassionate and empathetic individuals. They learn to appreciate differences, develop open minds, and gain the skills necessary to thrive in an interconnected global society.
As parents, you play an essential role in fostering acceptance. By encouraging your children to embrace diversity and respect others, you reinforce the values we uphold at St Anthony's. Together, we can create a community that celebrates uniqueness and champions unity.
Let us continue working hand in hand to cultivate an environment where acceptance flourishes. By doing so, we equip our children with the tools they need to build a better, more compassionate world.
With gratitude,
Mike Barns

Italian News
Ciao! Benvenuto a notizie italiane! (Hi, welcome to Italian News!).
We have been very busy learning and immersing ourselves in Italian Language and Culture at St Anthony’s School! I would like to share with you some highlights of our learning so far this year.
In Junior Primary we have been learning about colours, numbers and body parts in Italian. The students have really enjoyed learning the ‘Testa, spalle, ginocchia, piedi’ song (The Italian version of ‘Head, shoulders, knees and toes’).
In Middle Primary, we have been revising our learning and looking at how to apply what we know to being able to have conversations in Italian. The Year 4 students have worked in small groups to create their own version of the story ‘Il brucco molto affamato’ (The Very Hungry Caterpillar), by Eric Carle. They had a great time being creative with their stories.
Some of the titles of the stories the students created are;
‘L’asino molto puzzolente’ (The Very Stinky Donkey)
‘Il cane molto avido’ (The Very Greedy Dog)
‘La pigrizia sportiva’ (The Sporty Sloth)
‘Il leone molto scontroso’ (The Very Grumpy Lion).
In Upper Primary, most recently, the students have really enjoyed learning how to play a traditional Italian card game called ‘Scopa’ (meaning ‘sweep’ in Italian). The aim of the game is to ‘sweep’ the floor of cards. You do that by collecting the cards laid out that match the ‘value’ of one of your playing cards. For every ‘Scopa’ your team gets a point is awarded.
I hope that the students are able to share, with you, their learning in Italian so far! Maybe they might even teach you some of the things they have learnt.
Don’t forget to check SeeSaw for activities and info uploaded for Italian.
Arrivaderci per adesso, (bye for now)
