A Note From Ms. Austin A Note From Ms. Austin

Emmott Families,

At Emmott, we know that student success is strongest when families and schools work together. Thank you for partnering with us and playing an active role in your child's learning.

This month, our teachers are working to meet with every family through a parent-teacher conference. If you have not yet been contacted to schedule a conference, please reach out to your child's teacher or contact the front office. These conversations help us celebrate progress, discuss goals, and work together to support student success.

We also encourage you to stay connected by reading grade-level newsletters, following our social media pages, and joining our PTO. Looking for another way to get involved? Consider joining our new volunteer program, Proud Emmott Eagle Parents (P.E.E.P.s). If you're interested, please email nasha.jackson@cfisd.net or call the front office and leave a message for Ms. Jackson.

Thank you for your continued support and partnership. Together, we can ensure this is a successful year for every Emmott Eagle. As always, Adventure Awaits!

Veterans Day Program Veterans Day Program

As we prepare to celebrate Veterans Day, Emmott Elementary is honored to recognize the brave men and women who have served or are currently serving in the United States Armed Forces. We invite Emmott families who have a veteran or active-duty service member in their family to join us for this special program as we honor their sacrifice, dedication, and service to our country. To help us recognize the military heroes connected to our school community, please send a photo of your family member who has served or is currently serving in the military. These photos may be included as part of our Veterans Day tribute. Additional information about the program, including a link to RSVP, can be found in the attached letter. We look forward to celebrating and honoring these special family members with you.

Child Anti-Victimization Message Child Anti-Victimization Message

Parents and Guardians,

During the December lessons with the counselor, we will present the Anti-Victimization lessons to Kindergarten through 5th grade students.

Click here to select whether or not your child will receive the Anti-Victimization lessons from the counselors. Please make your selection by November 18th.

We will be using the WHO Program: We Help Ourselves. There are three ways in which WHO teaches children how We Help Ourselves:

  1. Know—Know the rules you and your family have decided on for safety.
  2. Do—Have a plan for assertive, positive action
  3. Tell—Ask someone you trust for help—it’s important to tell someone about situations that are uncomfortable.

For all grade levels, we encourage students to go home and talk to their parents. For children with a phone, we encourage students to create a private word between them and the adults they trust. This way, they can use that private word when they need help. This helps when friends are involved, and they are embarrassed or afraid to speak up in the situation.

Click here to see the video that will be presented to your child’s grade level to help you decide if you would like to opt-in for your child to receive the lesson. We encourage you to have these conversations with your child to ensure they know what to do in dangerous or uncomfortable situations.

Sincerely,

Alexandria Stumbaugh

Padres y tutores,

Utilizaremos el programa WHO: Nos Ayudamos a Nosotros Mismos.

Atentamente,

Alexandria Stumbaugh

Technology with Purpose Technology with Purpose

As part of our commitment to providing the best learning experience for all students, CFISD is introducing updated technology guidelines to ensure a consistent, balanced, and purposeful use of technology in our classrooms.

Technology is an important tool for learning, but it is most effective when it supports, rather than replaces, quality teaching, meaningful student interactions, and hands-on learning experiences. Our goal is to help students use technology in ways that strengthen their learning while continuing to collaborate, communicate, create, write, and actively engage both on and off screen.

We encourage you to take a few moments to review the technology guidelines below. The goal is not more technology or less technology, but the right technology, used for the right purpose, at the right time to support student success.

Lightspeed Parent Portal

A Message from Technology Services

Learning doesn’t stop when the school day ends, and neither does technology use! CFISD is excited to introduce the Lightspeed Parent Portal, giving families greater visibility and control over their student’s digital experience after school.

On October 12, Technology Services sent parents and guardians an email directly from Lightspeed inviting them to create an optional Parent Portal account. Once registered, their accounts will connect them to their student(s).

Through the Parent Portal, families will be able to:

Breakfast

We are excited to continue our participation in the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) program. The CEP is a federally funded option that allows all Emmott students to eat breakfast and lunch during the school day for free. This is exciting for our campus because there will be no cost for breakfast and lunch at Emmott.

Our campus will be a Grab & Go Breakfast campus that allows all students to pick up breakfast from our cafetiera and get to class before the tardy bell. Because we are a CEP campus once again this year, students will not be permitted to bring in breakfast items from outside of the school to eat in the classroom.

We will be encouraging all of our Eagles to eat breakfast upon arrival as part of our morning routine from the cafeteria.

Lunch

As we have done in the past, Emmott will be establishing our cafeteria procedures and set up routines for cafeteria PRIDE during all grade level lunches. As part of our goal to have effective routines in place for lunch and build community within the first nine weeks, our parent lunches will begin on Tuesday, September 15th. The schedule will be shared for all grade level lunches on our next school newsletter.

We will have two days available for lunch visitors, Tuesday and Thursdays. We encourage our parent/student lunch areas to be a PHONE FREE ZONE that promotes conversations about school and allows students to share highlights of their instructional day. More information about specific guidelines for student meals and visits will be shared in our Parent Reference Guide to come.

We want our visitors during lunch to serve as active models of Eagle Pride for our students, staff, and other guests on campus.

Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.

ParentSquare will provide families with a more streamlined way to receive important updates, announcements, reminders, and notifications from both the school and district. To help you get started, we have included a "Getting Started for Parents & Guardians" link with step-by-step instructions and helpful information about creating your account, managing notification preferences, and accessing key features. We encourage all parents and guardians to review the guide and activate their ParentSquare account to stay connected and informed throughout the school year.
