September Family Newsletter
2026-2027
Welcome to September at CFL!
What a great start to the school year! Our students have been busy learning new routines, making friends, building relationships with their teachers, and growing their social-emotional and academic skills. We are excited for a wonderful year ahead!
Thank you, families, for your partnership and engagement. We appreciate everyone who joined us for Pre-Assessment Days and our Annual Pancake Breakfast. Building strong relationships between home and school helps our children thrive.

๐ September Family Reminders
We are off to a great start at CFL! Now that students are settling into their classrooms, September is a great time to continue building strong routines, independence, and consistent attendance.
โฐ Start the Day Strong
Doors Open: 7:15 AM
School Begins: 7:35 AM
School Ends: 3:00 PM
Arriving on time helps your child start the day feeling calm, connected, and ready to learn. Breakfast is available beginning at 7:15 AM.
๐ Kiss & Go = Growing Independence!
Thank you for helping us make Kiss & Go a success! Saying goodbye at the entrance helps children build confidence and independence while allowing them to begin their classroom routine with their peers.
Our staff is always available to help children who need a little extra support saying goodbye. A quick, positive goodbye sends the message: โSchool is a safe place, and I know you can do this!โ
๐ End-of-Day Changes
If your child's transportation or pick-up plan changes, please contact the office before 2:00 PM. This gives our team enough time to communicate the change with teachers and ensure your child gets to the correct place safely.
For safety, parents should not remove students directly from the bus line. Please check in with the front office and a staff member will assist you.
๐ซ Arriving Late or Leaving Early
If your child arrives after the school day has begun, please bring them to the front office to check in.
If you need to pick your child up early, calling the office about 10 minutes before arrival helps us have your child ready. A parent/guardian will still need to come into the office and sign the student out.
โค๏ธ Attendance Matters
Every school day mattersโeven in preschool, kindergarten, and first grade! Consistent attendance helps children build friendships, learn classroom routines, develop confidence, and make academic progress.
When children are at school on time and ready to learn, they get the most out of every day.
๐ฌ Stay Connected With Us

๐ฑ Whatโs Next in Preschool?
We are learning so much about your child! These first few weeks have helped us get to know their personalities, strengths, interests, and individual needs. Right now, learning classroom routines and expectations is so important and helps children feel safe, confident, and ready to learn.
This month, we will continue focusing on building language and communication skills throughout the day. We want every child to grow their ability to communicate their wants, needs, ideas, and feelings while playing and learning with others.
๐ธ We need your help! Please send in a family photo for your child to add to our classroom Family Trees. Seeing their family in the classroom helps children feel connected and reminds them that families are an important part of our school community!
๐ Learning at Home: Simple Ways to Help!
๐ Reading & Language: Talk About the Book
While reading together, pause and ask:
โWhat is happening?โ or โWhat do you think will happen next?โ
๐ Preschool: Encourage your child to name what they see and talk about the pictures.
๐ Kโ1: Ask your child to explain their thinking or tell you why they think something happened.
Just 10 minutes of reading and talking together each day builds vocabulary, comprehension, and a love of reading!
๐ข Math: Count It & Make It!
Use everyday objects like crackers, blocks, Legos, or socks.
๐ Preschool: Count the objects together, touching each one as you count.
๐ Kindergarten: Give your child a number and have them make a group that matches it. โCan you show me 8?โ
๐ 1st Grade: Use the objects for simple addition and subtraction. โYou have 7 crackers. If you eat 2, how many are left?โ
Learning doesn't have to feel like homeworkโeveryday moments are opportunities to learn!

โญ Resources For A Successful Year
๐ Lunch at CFL
CFL has a closed lunch period for students. This helps us maintain consistent routines, encourage independence, and ensure students have time to focus on eating and connecting with their classmates.
If you would like to have lunch with your child during the school day, you will need to check your child out through the front office and check them back in when they return.
